MARION COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE
Karen Virginia Foley, 26, was charged with child neglect.
According to an Ocala police report, two people called 911 around 3:30 p.m. to report a child left alone in front of Game Stop at 1903 E. Silver Springs Blvd. When an officer arrived, a woman was waiting near a white Chevrolet Tracker with the child inside. She told police she had called 911 and stayed with the child for 20 minutes. The child was in a car seat.
Another woman reportedly told the officer she had parked near the Tracker and had gone shopping with her boyfriend for about an hour. When she came back to her car, her boyfriend noticed the child in the car, according to the report.
The car was unlocked and the woman told officers she checked on the child.
The woman also told the officer she went into every store in the plaza and had announcements made in attempt to find the baby's parents.
The car was registered to Foley, according to the report.
The officer remained with the child until after 4 p.m., when Foley and her two children returned to the car.
Foley reportedly told the officer she had only left her boyfriend's child in the car for a few minutes.
When she was arrested, Foley reportedly said she accidentally forgot the child in the car.
The incident was reported to the state Department of Children and Families.
Awww...she's SAD! Bet the 2-year old was too...

I bet babies Mama is ready to kill baby daddy and this skank. I would be outraged if someone treated my child like extra baggage! I hope the Mama gets a hold of her and doles out some good ol fashioned street justice!

I NEVER did this. I'd always leave an older child in the car to watch the younger ones. By the time that they're 5 years old, kids are ready to take on some responsibility, ya know?
Seriously, I hope that the boyfriend drops the evil step-mom/girlfriend. She couldn't even wait to marry him before she started showing favortism and treating his kid like shit.
If he loves this child he'll dump this evil bitch

I am hesitant to leave my 12 yr old in a car with my toddler... And that's only because of how much work it is right now to keep up with a very active toddler while this pregnant.
That being said, I hope Baby Mama really has it in for the girlfriend (I can't say the Dad, he entrusted that a woman who is a mother would do right by his child and he wasn't there). Though I am sure it is going to cause hella problems for him and if he were smart he'd dump her now. I hope he chooses his kid over his vagina.

I get especially angry when I think how smug she must have felt, trying to tell those people that she'd only left the kid in there for a couple of minutes... after they'd waited with him all that time. It's a little satisfying to imagine how panic must have set in when she realized they knew better.

Nah, I wouldn't think of leaving my 6 yo. alone for more than five with my 2 yo. Much can happen with kids alone. Maybe that's just me being paranoid, but in Texas, kids under the age of 7 yo. unattended for more than 5 min. is an offense. Due to extreme hot temps they are real clear on this. Kids can do all kinds of crazy shit in cars, leave it to my boys.
This poor baby. 2 hrs. long time to be left alone crying. I'd kick her ass until she'd get it straight that being a dumbass is unacceptable.

Oh give me a break, she forgot the baby? Yeah right. I wonder if she has done this before, just wasn't caught.
That was so reckless, OMG! Luckily concerned people were there to call the police and comfort him. That must have been terrifying for the child. Anything could have happened to him. To me it is like she was inviting tragedy. I literally could not friggin shop knowing any child, mine or otherwise, was in my car for two hours. What the hell was she thinking?
I shudder at the thought that someone I trust would be so careless with my kids, especially considering she is a mother herself. This seems kind of mean to me, but maybe I am wrong.
SO glad baby is alright - thanks to the people who got involved.

You left children alone in a car? Five year old's have to take responsibiliy? That is utterly irresponsible on your part. A five year old should not be left in a car let alone being responsible for younger siblings. What could be so important that you couldn't get the kids out of the car and take them with you?

I am sure crickett was using sarcasm. She was a staunch child advocate. I also get why lily thinks it sounds illiterate. Americans have bastardized the English language to the point where it does sound trashy. I hope she never has to go to an Oakland Ca supermarket. -or Texas.

Lily I believe she was using the "delicate" form of sarcasm, rather than the "punch you in your face" form. Stick around here more often and you'll see that a lot of "us" like to use sarcasm in all forms. Whether we are literate when we do so...Well, that's not a guarantee.

That wouldn't stop folks from not recognizing sarcasm. They would just think it's just some weird formatting that someone used. If folks want to showcase that they are being sarcastic or facetious, they can just put in a signal like "/end sarcasm" or color it purple/non-black or use Ştrănģę Łeťŧērƨ already available.
People will still miss it and it's a bit insulting to the vast majority that DO recognize it without cues.

Y'all should know that I taught English, and am a professional writer. "Y'all" is a contraction of 'you all' and a Southern colloquialism that I use in casual communications such as this forum. It is not the Queen's English, but the British have plenty of colloquialisms that make little sense to an American. If you want to mock language usage, go find someone who writes in text-speak. That crap drives me bat-shit crazy.

A British person with a poker up their hole? I wouldn't have believed it! Wind your neck in, you know she was joking. Don't start me on British regional slang ffs, Scousers, Geordies, Brummies, Cockneys, Glaswegians... they sound like they're from another planet at times lol. I'm from Belfast, we've one of the worst accents, always sounds rough on TV. Check out Steeky and Pablo on youtube to hear some awful Belfastisms (in a delightful accent).

I freaking LOVE the word ya'll/y'all lol. Its just so great to say simply becoz when you say it outside of the South people react like Lily did and since ya'll is such a integral part of my vocab 2 hear someone think of it as weird is funny too me.
Or i get the: ya'll isn't a word then I have to go all academic like Rothase2 and let them know that its a friggin contraction of you all. Then they're like oh. I'm from Tx and everyone says ya'll eventually. It doesnt matter who you are or where you're from it will sneak up on your vocab and one day it'll just show up and you wont even realize it lol.
I don't think I need 2 take a poll to find this dumb bitch Karen guilty. Selfish bitch. Theres no excuse for this and as soon as she saw the cops she should have just STFU and put her hands behind her back. That is one ugly broad when she's cryin. If "Ya'll is indeed a contraction of "you all" shouldn't it be "Y'all"? There is no "a" in "you". A contraction usually takes out the verb to be. Well..............according to the rules of English, that is.

It's more a punctuation error than an language error. Should be "Y'all". The rules of English are broken all the time... which makes it one of the hardest languages to learn for many. Exceptions in contractions and pronunciations are rampant.
Informal use of the English language is acceptable on this site. We even allow made up words and Freudian typos. The Grammar Nazis and Punctuation Police are usually called upon when dealing with tards because... well, because they are tards.

Thanks. One of my favorite things in interaction with folks on this site is the variation in use of the language. I learn new words all the time. Some are made up, some are obscure/regional/international, and some are unintentional due to typos, misspellings or misuse. Any way they happen, it's usually a fun time and a learning experience.
I'm gonna be judged quilty of enjoying a good twatwaffle kerfuffle. :wink3:

Ok, I tried not to bite, really I did, but this is just wrong. The most commonly contracted word is 'not.' As in wouldn't, shouldn't, can't... etc... Hardly a form of 'to be.' Further, what about 'us,' as in 'Let's talk about American English!' Of course, if you really want to stir some shit, let's talk about AIN'T!

I find it hilarious that our (American) version of English is considered antiquated by those who dwell on the Island of Britain. However, I find the colloquial English spoken there as egregious as they no doubt find ours. I've participated in some spirited argument with Brits that left non-native English speakers scratching their heads at how a common language can be so divisive.
Here are some websites to help cross the bridge.

Calling Britain an island leaves out NI, we're just a wee province. We call England, Scotland and Wales "The Mainland" lol. There's a language barrier between people from different cities in Britain ffs. I've noticed that "pants" is used in place of "trousers" in some parts of England, up north I believe. I first heard the word "clunge" on XFM-Ricky Gervais years ago, but after "The Inbetweeners" it seems to have become a more mainstream word, I think it was a london thing before that. I already know that I'm a boring fucker, before any of you send any cheeky replies, but I'm stoned and can't be bothered to read through this before I click post. Just don't bother reading, I haven't even separated it, it's just a big block of words. I'm away to bed now, it's half two in the morning here and I've to get up in a few hours. Night!
