I love it when there are stories about GOOD people in my city!
September 14, 2009 - Bike Courier Matt Magura stopped at the bank machine in the lobby of the Medical Arts Building on Kennedy Street to cash a GST cheque when he found the money.
"Maybe for about 15 seconds I thought it was the money bag off the back of the truck thing, [that] my problems are solved," he said. "But I knew there was no way that I'd be able to keep any money, right? It belongs to somebody."
It turned out the envelopes had been taken out of the ATM during a collection run by an armoured car company. They contained about $8,000 cash along with cheques for a little more than that amount, and had been bundled together but left behind.
The grateful bank gave Magura $50 gift certificate to Boston Pizza.
Magura said he was happy to get anything at all.
