i JUST WANNA PUKE RIGHT NOW......

Five men from the same family are in custody in a stunning child sex crimes case in Missouri — and cadaver dogs are now being used in a hunt for possible bodies of victims, Fox4KC.com reports.

Police are searching a patch of land on a farm property Wednesday near Bates City, Mo., a day after the men were charged with committing sex crimes against children, according to Fox4KC.com.

Charged with multiple counts of child rape are 77-year-old Burrell Edward Mohler Sr. and his son Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53, both of Independence, Mo., along with 48-year-old Jared Leroy Mohler of Columbia, Mo.

David A. Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa, was charged with one count of child rape, and Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City, Mo., is accused of using a child in a sexual performance — a felony. The relationships of Jared, David and Roland Mohler to Burrell Mohler Sr. and Burrell Mohler Jr. weren't immediately known.

The crimes allegedly were committed from the late 1980s until the mid-1990s.

The elder Burrell Mohler is accused of drugging and forcibly raping a child under 12 and using a child in a sexual performance. His son is charged with sexual assault of a child under 14 and using a child in a sexual performance.

It wasn't clear how many young victims there allegedly were. All five men are being held behind bars without bond.

A press conference will be held Wednesday morning to discuss more details of the case.

I JUST read this and I was coming to see if anyone had posted it yet.

I am familiar with the idea of a criminogenic family but this is beyond fucked up.

I pray they don't find anything with the cadaver dogs but people like this don't just stop molesting kids.

Instead of castrating them lets just line them up and kill them execution style....we all know when they go to trial and get sentenced it is not going to be long enough to fit the crime..these children are going to be haunted for the rest of their lives because of these men..

So the crimes they are charged with happened in the 80's. Does that mean that they probably produced child porn and the authorities were able to find out who the men were? That, or the victim(s) came forward.

The fact that they are digging and searching for bodies made my heart drop. I wonder if they will find the remains of one or more children and clear up a couple missing persons cases in the area...

Know something that never ceases to amaze me?

How sometimes parents and their children commit sex crimes together.

I didn't even like TALKING with my parents about sex and birth control, I can't imagine growing up in an environment where Daddy wants to show junior how to "have a good time." It's so backwards and gross on top of what is pedophilia and abuse that it makes me want to vomit.

I wonder if the Dad abused his kids? Probably.

LAFAYETTE COUNTY, Mo. - Graphic details have emerged in the case against a father and his four sons in Lafayette County who have been charged with sex crimes with children under the age of 12. The probable cause from the Lafayette County Prosecutors states that a female relative of the five men was forced to have sex with a dog.

Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77; and his sons Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53; David A. Mohler, 52 and Jared Leroy Mohler, 48; Roland Neil Mohler, 47 have all been charged with sex crimes that the probable cause statement said occurred between March 1988 and March 1995.

A 26-year-old relative of the men told police that she was abused at least eight times and was forced to watch abuse a ninth time on her brother. The probable cause also stated that the female relative was forced to have an abortion at age 11 and was also forced to "marry" her relative, David Mohler.

Mohler Sr., 77, has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by the use of forcible compulsion, two counts of felony rape and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance.

Mohler Jr., 53, has been charged with deviate sexual assault with a child less than 14 years old and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance.

David A. Mohler, 52, has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by use of forcible compulsion.

Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, has been charged with forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old by use of forcible compulsion, forcible sodomy, knowingly had deviate sexual intercourse with a child less than 12 years old by use forcible compulsion and two counts of use of a child in a sexual performance.

Roland Neil Mohler, 47, has been charged with use of a child in a sexual performance.

Police were searching for bodies on a stretch of farm property in Lafayette County, Mo. outside of Bates City with cadaver dogs on Tuesday.

The men are being held in the Lafayette County jail in lieu of bond. A spokesman with the Missouri Highway Patrol said the investigation of the property is ongoing, and there is a press conference scheduled for Wednesday at 1 p.m. We will be live streaming the press conference on fox4kc.com

Authorities are searching a rural property just south of Bates City, Mo., for glass jars with notes written by children who were allegedly being abused.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol said crews are searching several acres of land just south Bates City in western Missouri, in connection with the arrest of five men on various charges of sexually abusing children.

Five members of the same family — all men — were arrested Tuesday.

The men, ages 47 to 77, were charged with 14 felonies, according to a news release from the Missouri Highway Patrol. The charges include forcible sodomy and forcible rape with a child less than 12 years old and use of a child in a sexual performance.

The alleged crimes happened between 1988 and 1995, according to online charging documents.

Two men from Independence were charged — Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, and Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53. Also charged were Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, of Columbia; Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City; and David A. Mohler, 52, of Iowa. All five were in the Lafayette County Jail.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Department, the Rural Missouri Major Case Squad and the Highway Patrol investigated.

The Western Missouri Cyber Crimes Task Force is aiding in the continuing investigation.

Corporal Bill Lowe of the Highway Patrol said one of the victims came forward to investigators in mid-August and that other children are cooperating.

Lowe said the victims allegedly buried glass jars around the property, filled with messages “about what was happening to them.”

Lowe wouldn’t elaborate further.

That's gotta be one of the saddest things I have ever read.

Same here.

Let me share a little info with you guys...

When I was a little girl I was sexually abused by my dentist. He was creepy, and he wouldn't let children have their parents with them while they were getting their dental work done. The first time I went to him he pulled out a huge needle with what I can only assume is the stuff that numbs your mouth and I freaked the HELL OUT. I cried, I screamed, I begged for my Mommy and Daddy and he didn't care. As a matter of fact, I think he enjoyed my fear.

I wont go into the details about what exactly he did to me (and other girls, sadly) but I will tell you how he tried to keep me quiet. He said, "Andee, it might be easier for you if you just forget this. Would you like to pretend it never happened?" I agreed. The whole experience was beyond me. I didn't want to think about it anymore.

So, he told me to close my eyes and push everything that had happened within the past 45 mintues or so to the "back of my mind." You know what? It worked. I didn't think about it, I didn't talk about it, but when another girl came forward with allegations of sexual abuse my denial bubble burst. My parents asked me if the dentist had ever touched me inappropriately and I told them he had. I testified with the other girls and happily sent his sorry ass to prison for a very long time. His license was also taken away forever.

My first thought, when I read about the jars, was that the guys were "burying the acts" so the kids wouldn't think about them. A way of putting the abuse in the past and something they don't have to worry about or worry other people WITH.

Just a thought.

These guys are sick bastards and they will get whats coming to them.

Edited to add:

I hope that personal information wasn't too much. I am not trying to earn sympathy or empathy from anyone, just trying to explain my theory of the glass jars with messages. I had plenty of therapy when I was a kid to deal with what happened to me, and I am stronger for it. I think that is why I get so angry when kids are abused like this... because I know first hand how it feels.

I have never understood this. My ex had something bad happen to her, and when I would question her, she could never remember. The ego part of my dumb man brain said that she was just hiding something from me, but something in the back of my head was saying that she was telling the truth. Like you said, she was putting it away in the back of her mind, then one day there was that trigger and it all came back. I don't understand it because I always want to face the bad things in life head on and either beat it or come to terms with it. I have never hidden anything away. Sometimes I wish I could, because there's alot I would like to forget...

I also had a trigger when I watched a really scary movie one night (when I was much too young!). I found myself unable to sleep and unable to tell my Mom and Dad why I was so scared because they would have punished me for watching a rated "R" movie without their permission.

So, I found myself going through the similar pattern that the evil dentist taught me. I closed my eyes and pushed the movie to the back of my mind. When I realized what I was doing I freaked out a little and asked to go back to the therapist. My hatred for that guy was so great that if I found myself displaying any type of behavior he taught/liked I felt disgusted with myself.

Human brains are complex organs. Capable of much more than we realize. I am sorry you guys have gone through things as well...

I can't believe I'm even thinking this. Maybe the jars are buried where the cadaver dogs might find something; maybe the living victims had knowledge of where they should bury the jars (forward-thinking)?

No. Thank you. Really. This just made me re-think something my 6 y.o. granddaughter has recently started saying to me when asked something, anything, that she doesn't want to talk about: "I can't remember the past." The question can be as simple as what did you eat for lunch today or did you like the shoes I sent you. Her answer is always something like, that was in the past and I can't remember the past.

Backstory is long but oldest son has custody because her mom was drugging her and leaving her alone in various ghetto houses at night while she partied. She is getting no counseling, but I know she is supposed to be seeing her school's psychiatrist. (Little bits and pieces come out in conversations and he lies -- they live several states away.)

Thank you for your story. There is nothing we can do at this second, but don't think for one second that I haven't looked into options. I'm sooo glad that you had supportive parents. My granddaughter could turn out like you. (BTW, according to physical exam, nothing sexual but lots of drugs, malnourished, and she's ADHD with attachment disorder.)

{S}

It could be her just trying to cope with the cards she has been dealt. I grew up quick, I had no choice, and it sounds like your granddaughter might be going through the same thing. Not the same type of abuse, mind you, but the realization that she has the ability to protect herself by denying things or pushing them out of her mind.

My therapist was awesome, and he told me that once you deal with the "heavy stuff" (thats what he called it) you can stop thinking about it so much. It was hard for me to do that because I was used to pushing it out of my mind. It took time, it always does.

I am thinking good thoughts for your granddaughter. Sounds like she has been through a lot, but if she knows you are always there for her no matter what she has a place to go if she needs it. My Mom's parents were that way with me. If I needed a break from everything I got to go stay with them for the weekend and ride horses. I know it's not that easy to just pick her up and take her, but it means the world to just know you are there... does that makes sense?

You sound like a loving and doting Grandma *hugs*

Edited to add:

I feel like I have turned this thread into my own personal childhood review. I am sorry for that. :) I don't want to take away from the children who were hurt by these creeps. The jars being buried in the yard scare the hell out of me, as do the mentions of bestiality (GAWD!). Their photos creep me out alone.

Burrell Sr, David Mohler and Jared Mohler were ministers!!

Three of the five men arrested are lay ministers in the Community of Christ church whose licenses have been suspended, church spokeswoman Linda L. Booth said.
Wintersfootsteps: Your insight was right on:

Lowe said the woman told investigators that she and her siblings had buried glass jars around the property that were filled with messages "about what was happening to them" when they were younger. The woman said she had "suppressed many of the memories of abuse perpetrated on her" and her siblings, according to the probable cause statement.

Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the highway patrol said the adults told the children to write down their bad memories.

"That was what they were told. Write these memories down, put them in a jar and bury it and the memories would go away," Stosberg said. "It was a way for them to cope."

Booth, the church spokeswoman, said none of the Mohlers served in leadership roles in the congregations they attended "nor did they serve as volunteer youth workers, teach children or youth church school, or work with children or youth."

"The church takes seriously the allegations that have been made and suspended the priesthood licenses of three lay ministers: Burrell Mohler Sr., David Mohler and Jared Mohler," the church said in a statement.

Booth said one of the men, whom she refused to identify, had been registered to work with children but that license has been terminated.

As an adult who was sexually molested this has brought back a lot of memories I'd rather have kept buried. My situation involved my sperm donor and 2 of his brothers and lasted 9 years. I too had been told to do something a little different. I was told to write my memories of what was happening down in a notebook and each time it was filled I was instructed to burn it thus setting the memories free so they couldn't come back. I was forced to abort a baby at 16 that resulted. My other family have no idea this has happened as I've never felt I could tell them. I have tried counseling but I've not had much success with it. I have pretty much worked through things on my own.

I know that's not related to the story, but my heart breaks every time I read about a child going through sexual abuse. It fills me with a huge sadness. I say all this because I want to thank everyone here that is a voice and willing to be a voice for these innocent children. In my day, NO one stood up for the kids, we were on our own. Yes, this story has triggered some very painful memories, but it also gives me hope that there are people who are watching out for kids now. There's hope that law enforcement actually investigates cases when the kids are brave enough to come forward. I have a huge respect for the victim that came forward in this case. May she find the help she needs to finally put all this horror behind her. May she be able to move forward and lead as normal a life as possible.

On a final happy note, I have submitted the paperwork to become a foster parent. Please keep good thoughts. I'm not able to have children but I have a heart full of love to give to the kids who haven't ever known love. I really feel this is the right move to make. I love being able to open my home to children who need a safe haven and lots of love.

She has many memories of abuse, but some of the abuse occurred in other jurisdictions in the State of Missouri as well as another State. [Censored] knows that all of these events took place prior to her turning 12 years of age and believes that most occurred from age 5 through 11 (March 1, 1988 through March 21, 1995. She became pregnant and was made to have an abortion at age 11 1/2. She doesn't remember any sexual abuse after that date. The abuse that occurred in Lafayette County specific to Burrel E. Mohler, Sr. is outlined below.

Missouri officials search for more victims, clues in child-abuse caseNovember 12, 2009 7:35 a.m. EST

(CNN) -- Investigators are searching for "a body or bodies" on the property that once belonged to one of five members of a Missouri family arrested on multiple child sexual abuse charges, the Lafayette County sheriff said Wednesday.

Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh said his department, along with other law enforcement agencies investigating the case, are seeking witnesses and more possible victims.

I knew it.

Damnit.

I just knew it.

My heart dropped when I read that.

What a group of filthy, foul, scuzzy, despicable, low-life beings. I won't even call them human.

The fact that they are looking for a body scares the hell out of me. Who's body are they looking for and what the fuck happened?

As hard as it is for some of us who have been through this kind of thing to read these stories and bring up our own memories, I am glad I am watching these men (again, using "men" lightly) get what they deserve.

I want them to spend the rest of their lives living in a cell with bunk mates named Big Bubba and Sleazy Steve.

These men have changed their victims forever. The victims can get counseling, they can move on, but they will never be able to forget the things that happened to them.

I wish I believed in Hell.

[Censored] also recalls watching as her father; Burrell Mohler, Jr. unzipped his pants, placing his penis in the mouth of her younger brother, [Victim 2]. This occurred at the farm at [censored] Old Concord Road in Lafayette County. [Victim 2] would have been under the age of 12 at the time of this incident as he was identified as being younger than [Victim 1]. [Victim 2] has also been interviewed and has given a statement to police detailing this act of abuse.

According to this the brother is confirming the abuse.

Independence, Missouri (CNN) -- A sixth person was arrested Thursday on suspicion of child sexual abuse in an investigation that led to the arrest of five members of a Missouri family, and authorities found additional victims in the case, police said.

Larry Kidd, 55, of Kansas City, Missouri, is an "associate" of the Mohler family of Lafayette County, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said. Five members of the family were arrested earlier in the week after six alleged victims, who are relatives of the five initial suspects, came forward.

As a result of a news conference held Wednesday, the highway patrol said, "further information has been developed that has resulted in the identification of additional victims in the case."

Kidd faces charges of rape of a child of less than 14 years old, police said. He was arrested without incident in Jackson County, Missouri, and was being transported to the Lafayette County Jail on Thursday night.

Arrested Tuesday were Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, and his sons Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53; David A. Mohler, 52; Jared Leroy Mohler, 48; and Roland Neil Mohler, 47. All five are being held in the Lafayette County Jail with bails ranging from $30,000 to $75,000.

The employer of one of the suspects said, "Everybody is still in shock ... disbelief," as news of the arrests spread through communities where several of the suspects live in western Missouri.

"He was a good medic," Corbin Allred said of Roland Mohler, who has been employed at the Saline County Ambulance District No. 3 since 2006. Mohler has been suspended, Allred said, and further action will be taken at the next board meeting.

"Can't believe he's been here this whole time," Allred said.

The six alleged victims -- all now adults -- came to law enforcement authorities with stories of sexual performances, mock weddings, rape with various objects and a forced abortion during their childhoods, according to court documents obtained by CNN affiliate KSHB in Kansas City. CNN does not identify alleged sexual assault victims.

Investigators on Wednesday were searching the property that once belonged to one of the brothers for "a body or bodies," Lafayette County Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh said. The search continued Thursday and will resume Friday, police said.

Alumbaugh said Wednesday he was seeking more witnesses and believed there are more victims.

"I believe that there is, and I believe every investigator here, after seeing the evidence, believes there's more victims," Alumbaugh said. "Pedophiles don't stop at one."

The alleged abuse took place from the mid-1980s until 1995 and possibly beyond, the sheriff said. The court documents provide graphic details of the alleged abuse, provided by one of the alleged victims. All of the charges stem from those documents, Alumbaugh said, adding that he expected additional charges based on other victim statements.

Burrell Mohler Sr., David Mohler and Jared Mohler are lay ministers in the Community of Christ, the Independence, Missouri-based organization said in a statement.

"Leaders and members of the Community of Christ in the greater Kansas City area are prayerfully upholding those families that are touched by the recent arrests of five members of the Mohler family," the statement said.

Lay ministers are volunteers who do not receive compensation, and none of the three served in leadership roles or worked with children, the organization said.

"We have a very strict code of ethics when it comes to the safety of our youth," said the organization's spokeswoman, Linda Booth.

Burrell Mohler Sr. did go through the group's registered youth worker program, but "his youth worker registration has been terminated and we understand he had no contact with children or youth in church programs," the statement said.

Some lay ministers might help take care of the church, Booth said, while others might speak at services.

"Immediately, I went to the rolls and had their priesthoods suspended because that's what we do in the Community of Christ when there's any word of something like this. We suspend their priesthoods," Booth said, referring to a church designation for male members.

"If this goes to trial and they are convicted, then they will be what we call silenced, and they can no longer represent the church in any way," Booth said.

The Community of Christ is an offshoot of the modern-day Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It split off from the Mormon church in the 1800s, and in 2000 changed its name to Community of Christ from the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

"I personally feel grief for these families, all the families that are involved in this," Booth said. "I feel concern for the congregations." She said she is also "concerned about the greater church, the Community of Christ who represents nations and communities based in love and peace and joy."

Roland Mohler was arrested at work on Tuesday, Allred said. "The highway patrol pulled him aside and put cuffs on him. We were really trying to find out what was going on. They wouldn't tell us." He said he found out by watching the news.

"You eat, you sleep, you do everything with people for 48 hours," said Mohler's partner, Sharon Roscher. "Oh my gosh, it's just a shock."

When Mohler was arrested, "He was outside talking to troopers and the next thing we know, he's being cuffed and taken away," Roscher said. "And it was utter chaos. But we run off adrenaline and handle emergencies pretty well. But no, we were totally shocked."

"He was likable," she said of Mohler. "He was a dependable medic, friendly, and he'd show up when he was supposed to work, did his on-calls. He did his duty."

Alumbaugh said investigators were also searching several properties for glass jars that some of the victims may have buried containing notes detailing the alleged abuse. Investigators are following other leads as well, the sheriff said.

"There has been indications there are a body or bodies in various locations," Alumbaugh said.

Investigators have been working the case since August, he said, when the first of Mohler Jr.'s now-grown children came forward.

A man who had called child sex abuse allegations against his brother and four nephews "repulsive" was charged Friday with raping two children, and Missouri authorities said they expected more charges against the family in the case.

Darrel Wayne Mohler, 72, of Silver Springs, Fla., was charged in Lafayette County, Mo., with two counts of forcible rape stemming from 1986, according to court documents. He was in custody Friday night at the Marion County Jail in Ocala, Fla., according to Kim Krause with the jail's classifications division.

Earlier Friday evening, Lafayette County Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh had urged Mohler to turn himself in "so I can talk to him."

Five other members of the Mohler family were charged earlier this week with several felonies, including forcible sodomy, rape with a child younger than 12 and use of a child in a sexual performance.

When asked to comment on the case Thursday before he was charged, Darrel W. Mohler told The Associated Press from his Florida home that he found the reports of child abuse "unspeakable."

"I can't think of words that would put this in perspective. I find it repulsive if it's true," he said.

Mohler said he was a disabled veteran suffering from various ailments, including lung disease. He did not return phone calls to his home seeking comment on the charges Friday before his arrest.

The other men charged in the case are Darrel W. Mohler's brother, Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, of Independence and his four adult sons: Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53, of Independence; Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, of Columbia; Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City; and David A. Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa.

The probable cause statement against Darrel W. Mohler accuses him of raping two children between the ages of 5 and 9 at an abandoned house in Bates City. The statement alleges that after Mohler left the children, Burrell Mohler Sr. came to the room and warned them to "be careful because waterbeds were known to pop and they might drown in their sleep."

Darrel W. Mohler said Thursday that he never had been close to his older brother Burrell and was "appalled by the allegations." He said he has a 16-year-old granddaughter "and that'd be like me messing with her, and the thought is repulsive. I'm glad I don't have that gene, God darn."

On Thursday, police also arrested a man they identified as an "associate" of the Mohler family and possible suspect, but did not charge him. He has been released.

The original complaint in the case includes allegations - of bestiality, forcing children into fake marriages with relatives and making an 11-year-old have an abortion - that date from 1988 to 1995. The Associated Press is not revealing details that could identify victims of sexual abuse.

The men have not entered pleas and did not have lawyers listed with the court clerk's office. The five Mohler men from Missouri have been held on cash bonds ranging from $30,000 to $75,000. Their next court hearing is Tuesday.

Alumbaugh also said Friday that a search on a 55-acre property formerly owned by family members was completed and that he expected additional charges against the suspects.

Alumbaugh had said earlier that investigators were focusing on the property outside Bates City, about 30 miles east of Kansas City, because there was "an indication that there are body or bodies in numerous locations." He did not elaborate.

So that makes 7 men so far? 6 of them family members?

Sick.

I keep editing this... sorry...

I just wanted to add that the church they are based in is an off-shoot of the Mormon Church (as mentioned previously). Independence, MO is one of the main places Joseph Smith used to set up the church. I am very curious to see if more members of the church are involved in this...

Joseph Smith practiced and preached that polygamy was essential to reach the celestial kingdom (the highest level of heaven... there are supposedly three). Did these men abuse these kids in this way because they felt the need to do so religiously?

I want to state that the mainstream Mormon church does *not* practice polygamy and hasn't for many, many years.

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - The Lafayette County Sheriff said they are actively searching for more people who may have been sexually abused by the Mohler family men. Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 77, his brother and his four adult sons have been charged with forcible sodomy and rape involving children under the age of 12.

In their search for more victims, detectives have contacted people like Mark Young's son, who was seven at the time of the alleged abuse. Young confirmed to police that his son was abused by one of the Mohler men.

Mark Young said he and his former wife, Pamela Robison, had a child together and that woman later married Burrell Edward Mohler, Jr. Young said Robinson and his son would disappear for days.

Young said another ex-wife of Mohler, Jr. tipped him off nearly a decade ago to sexual abuse at the Mohler family farm located in rural Lafayette County, Mo. He said she warned him so that his then seven-year old son would not become a victim.

"She started crying and advised me that she felt my son was in extreme danger," said Young.

Young added that woman's six children, who are alleged victims in this case, saw Young's son at the family farm.

"They knew my son and she advised me that one of her daughters had advised that Junior was quite fond of my son and liked to sleep with him," Young said.

Young managed to get sole custody after an emergency hearing, stating alleged abuse and some other issues.

"I didn't have any contact with any other family members except Ed Mohler, Jr. and I tried my best to keep track of him because of third party threats he had on me," Young said.

In August 2009, Young said an Independence detective contacted him about the case and his son being a possible victim. Young said he was contacted again this week by police, and his son was listed as a possible victim.

"It finally came to light," he said. "There's finally going to be justice, and I hope and pray that these kids will get the help they need."

I agree that they are also probably victims of abuse.

Clearly they had to have known something...

Being too afraid to come forward is one thing, but not getting your children out of danger is another. I have a hard time understanding how relatives who might have known about the abuse didn't take the kids and just start over somewhere else. Far away from the Mohlers.

Authorities last week searched a rural property outside Bates City, about 30 miles east of Kansas City, Mo., where members of the Mohler family once lived. Lafayette County Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh said then he believed they may find a body or bodies and buried glass jars with notes written by children who may have documented sexual abuse.

Adults allegedly told children to write down bad memories and bury them there and "the memories would go away," Sgt. Collin Stosberg, spokesman for the Missouri State Highway Patrol, said last week.

The case took another bizarre turn with the release of a search warrant indicating that three of the alleged abuse victims observed "several murders" and were forced to help kill and bury a man.

According to the warrant, a man abducted from his Independence, Mo., home was brought to Mohler Sr.'s property in Bates City. There, the warrant states, Mohler Jr., ordered the children to attack the abducted man and stab him, and threatened to kill the children if they refused.

One of the children then jumped on the man's back and stabbed him, but it was a stab wound from the adult that actually killed the victim, according to the warrant. The children were then forced to help dig a grave for the man and bury him.

The affidavit offers no details about the stabbing victim.

An investigator's affidavit released Monday said a radar used to search the rural property where Burrell Mohler Sr. and his sons lived in the 1980s found an object "consistent with the shape of a box" under the basement's concrete floor.

The woman told investigators that she was locked in the basement and raped in 1988.

She said the baby was buried in a box under the basement's only window. The affidavit said the basement floor was dirt at the time, and "following the delivery of the first baby, Burrell E. Mohler Sr. and Burrell E. Mohler Jr. buried the infant in the basement." The floor was later covered in concrete.

Authorities investigating six family members accused in a series of sexual assaults involving young relatives dating back to the 1980s seized booklets and magazines depicting incest from a family home.

The search warrant issued last week after the arrest of Burrell E. Mohler Sr., 77, of Independence, said investigators seized several items from Mohler's home, including four computer towers, several pornographic magazines and books, several DVDs, and cameras.

Mohler, his four adult sons and his brother, Darrel W. Mohler, 72, of Silver Springs, Fla., have been charged with raping and molesting several young relatives over roughly a decade. Accusations include impregnating at least two young girls and forcing one to have an abortion when she was 11.

Col. Ben Kenney of the Jackson County, Mo., sheriff's department said Wednesday that several booklets found at the home were about incest.

"The thing that was unusual was the title and the references," he said. "They were very explicit. ... It was all on sex with family members."

He said the computers that were seized were sent to an FBI lab in Kansas City for review.

The Jackson County warrant was issued Nov. 11, the day after Mohler and his sons were arrested.

Sandra Mohler, the wife of Burrell Mohler Sr., told detectives she found some of the material "that made reference to incest activity among family members" in a false ceiling of the basement, the warrant said. She locked the material in a file cabinet about two months ago, according to the warrant.

She said when she discovered the pornographic material she made an arrangement with her husband for him to "to move to the basement area of the residence," according to the document.

No one answered the door Wednesday at the address identified in the search warrant. Calls to the home also were not answered.

Mohler Sr. and his sons — Burrell Mohler Jr., 53, of Independence; Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, of Columbia; Roland Neil Mohler, 47, of Bates City; and David A. Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa — face several felony counts of rape and use of a child in a sexual performance.

Most of the men did not have lawyers Wednesday, according to the Lafayette County clerk's office. Jared Mohler's lawyer, Tim Larimore, did not return calls seeking comment.

Some family members, however, have questioned the plausibility of the charges against the men.

"These fellas have all had respectable jobs," Ron Gamble, a relative of the accused men, said after Tuesday's hearing.

"In this country, you're innocent until proven guilty. ... Have they found any evidence? I haven't heard of any," he said. "Believe me if these things would have happened when Alice was alive, she would have been on top of this."

Alice Mohler was Burrell E. Mohler Sr.'s wife and died in 1991, he said.

Still, police are convinced they have uncovered perhaps the worst sex crime case in Missouri history.

The original complaint, which has allegations that date from 1988 to 1995, includes charges of rape with a child younger than 12 and use of a child in a sexual performance. One court document alleged some of the children were assaulted with sharp objects and one girl was forced to have sexual contact with a dog.

A search warrant, filed Nov. 9, but released to The Associated Press on Tuesday, stated three of the alleged child victims observed "several murders" and they were forced to help stab a man to death and bury him in April 1988.

Search crews have combed the Mohler's former property outside Bates City in search of buried glass jars they believed contained notes written by children that documented sexual abuse. The children were told to write down bad memories and bury them there and "the memories would go away," said Sgt. Collin Stosberg of the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Graphic details of bestiality, child rape and sodomy emerged in court documents filed Thursday in the case of a Missouri family accused of horrific crimes against their relatives.

One of the alleged victims was about 7 years old when she and her sisters attempted to run away in 1988, after enduring years of sexual abuse at the hands of her male relatives, a complaint filed in Lafayette County Circuit Court states.

Before she left, she wrote down the alleged sex acts, put them in a jar and buried it, the complaint says.

The girls made it to a neighbor's house before returning home, where, as punishment for running away, they were forced to watch a relative sodomize their brother, according to the complaint.

The incident is just one of many described in the complaint based on interviews with one of the alleged victims, now 28, in support of charges against Burrell Mohler Sr., 77, and his sons Jared Mohler, 48, and Burrell Mohler Jr., 53.

The three men were each charged with use of a child in a sexual performance for allegedly forcing two girls to engage in bestiality in summer 1986.

Burrell Mohler Sr. is also accused of five counts of rape for incidents that allegedly occurred between May 1986 and December 1987 in several locations, including his former home in Bates City, Missouri.

The woman told police that "summers were the worst because the girls spent more time at their [relative's] farm," the complaint states.

During the summer of the alleged bestiality, the woman says she and three of her sisters were "married" to one of their relatives in a mock wedding ceremony conducted by Burrell Mohler Sr.

Two of the girl's sisters also reported the ceremony in interviews with police, the complaint says.

Two other sons of Burrell Mohler Sr., David Mohler and Roland Mohler, are also in custody on various charges related to the abuse allegations.

The men were arrested last week on charges of rape, deviate sexual assault and using a child in sexual performance, according to a Missouri state courts online system.

Fifteen charges were added Monday after another alleged victim came forward, CNN affiliate WDAF reported. Dozens of family members attended a hearing for the suspects Tuesday, saying the allegations against the men have been fabricated, the station said.

Burrell Mohler Sr.'s younger brother, Darrel Mohler, was arrested in Florida on Friday, authorities said. Lafayette County Sheriff Kerrick Alumbaugh said he faces two counts of rape.

From November

Additional charges have been filed against the Mohler men.

Burrell Edward Mohler Sr. is now accused of forcible sodomy, sexual abuse, three counts of forcible rape and three counts of using a child in a sexual performance.

Here's the breakdown of the new charges against Mohler Sr.'s sons:

Burrell Edward Mohler Jr., 53,of Independence: forcible rape and forcible sodomy.

David Mohler, 52, of Lamoni, Iowa: forcible rape
Jared Leroy Mohler, 48, of Columbia: two counts of forcible rape.
Roland Mohler, 47, of Bates City: forcible rape and forcible sodomy.
The latest charges, brought by a now 29-year-old woman identified only by the initials E.M.S., include allegations that:

Jared Mohler had sexual intercourse with her at Burrell Mohler Sr.'s farm in 1985.
Burrell Mohler Sr. had sex with her in an abandoned house in Bates City between 1986 and 1987. Around the same time, Darrel Mohler allegedly vaginally penetrated E.M.S. and one of her sisters. Another sister, A.J.A., corroborated the story. (Darrel Mohler was charged with two counts of rape over the weekend).
Burrell Mohler Jr. took E.M.S. and her sister A.J.A. to Senior's farm where he had sexual intercourse with both, claiming he was Burrell Mohler Jr.'s "bad twin."
In 1987, Burrell Mohler Sr. took her on a tractor ride and became sexually aroused while she was seated on his lap. He allegedly rubbed against her and ejaculated.
Jared Mohler allegedly held E.M.S. on his lap, rocking back and forth, at a house next to Burrell Mohler Sr.'s. Burrell Mohler Sr. noticed and said, "That's my boy." When he Burrell Mohler Sr. left, Jared Mohler vaginally penetrated E.M.S.
Burrell Mohler Sr. made E.M.S and her three of her sisters take off their pants and have sexual contact with each other while he watched. Then Burrell Mohler Sr. allegedly penetrated E.M.S. This was in 1987.
In 1988, David Mohler took her to the chicken coop where he kissed her playfully. He then made her pull down her pants and underwear as well as his. Mohler allegedly laid on top of her on a blanket and vaginally penetrated her with his penis. Next, Mohler allegedly told E.M.S. to get her sister.
Burrell Mohler Sr. made her and her sisters lay on their stomachs in order of age. E.M.S. claims her Mohler Sr. used a wood spatula to penetrate her anus. E.M.S. believes she was 8-years-old at the time.
Burrell Mohler Sr. made E.M.S. and her sisters lay on a bed with their wrists bound. The girls were then penetrated vaginally and anally by three men believed to be Burrell Sr., Burrell Jr. and Roland Mohler.

Linda Rinehart, world's worst mother runner-up, pleads guilty in incest case

Speaking of terrible mothers, Linda Rinehart is hard to top. Rinehart was reportedly jealous of the relationship between her husband, Danial Rinehart (http://www.kansascity.com/2010/04/20/1890794/rinehart-guilty-on-all-seven-counts.html#ixzz0lfnz4PFO), and her daughter but didn't tell authorities that her daughter was being molested because, as she told the police (http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2009/02/midtown_miscreant_calls_bullsh.php), she's too ugly to find another man, and she wanted a son.

A Cass County jury found Danial Rinehart guilty in April (http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2010/04/danial_rinehart_man_who_impregnated_his_daughter_g uilty_of_murder_incest.php) of murder, incest and abandonment of a corpse. He was later sentenced to 22 years in prison, which is nowhere near long enough for molesty Colonel Sanders (http://www.kansascity.com/2010/04/20/1890794/rinehart-guilty-on-all-seven-counts.html), who knocked up his daughter, Ashley Rinehart, four times (http://blogs.pitch.com/plog/2009/07/alleged_incest_victim_speaks_t.php) (only one of the children survived). The bodies of the children who didn't live were buried or hidden in coolers.

The trial for a western Missouri man accused of raping several young family members more than 20 years ago has been pushed back until spring.

Burrell Mohler Sr. had been scheduled for trial in October on 21 felony counts, including rape, sodomy and use of a child in a sexual performance. His new trial date has been set for April 2.

The 78-year-old has been behind bars since being arrested in November 2009, when he, four sons and his brother were charged with molesting young family members starting in the early 1980s.

and what about these bodies that were supposedly buried on the property?

One of six men accused of sexually molesting young family members at a western Missouri farm decades ago has died in his sleep in Florida.

Hiers-Baxley Funeral Home in Ocala, Fla., confirmed that 74-year-old Darrel W. Mohler of Silver Springs, Fla., died Wednesday.

Mohler was awaiting trial on two counts of rape stemming from the claims of young relatives that he, his brother and his brother's four sons sexually abused them in the mid-1980s at a farm in Lafayette County.

His trial in Clay County recently was pushed back to May 29.http://www.miamiherald.com/2011/10/31/2480612/darrel-mohler-dies-in-his-sleep.html

One of the articles reporting on Darrel Mohler's death has this handy dandy status update:

The defendants are Darrel’s brother and the brother’s four sons.

Darrel faced two charges of rape, according to records.
[...]

Burrell Edward Mohler Sr., 79, of Independence, has 19 felony charges against him. The charges range from rape to sexual abuse.

His jury trial, once scheduled to begin on Oct. 11, is set to take place at 9 a.m., April 2, 2012, in Clay County with Judge Larry Dale Harman presiding. Burrell is represented by attorney Kimberly Benjamin of Harrisonville, according to court records.

Investigators said they collected more than 1,000 items at the Independence homes of Burrell Sr. and Jr. They found multiple journals, written records, letters and cases of VHS tapes. Some were religious videos, others pornographic. They found writings about incest and sex toys and other items, according to the sheriff’s office.
[...]

Roland Neil Mohler, 49, of Bates City, faces charges for rape, sodomy and using a child in sexual performance. His jury trial is set to take place at 9 a.m., Jan. 9, 2011, in Clay County with Harman presiding. He is represented by Richard Dale Jacoby of Independence.

Jared Leroy Mohler, 50, of Columbia, has one charge of using a child in sexual performance. His trial is set for 8:30 a.m., Jan. 25, 2012, in Lafayette County, with Judge Dennis Rolf presiding. He is represented by attorney Tim Larimore of Higginsville, according to court records.

Burrell E. Mohler Jr., 55, of Independence, does not have a trial date set. A Missouri prosecutor on Monday agreed to drop two felony counts against a Columbia man charged with sexually abusing young relatives three decades ago.

Jared Mohler, 50, and five family members were arrested in 2009 after they were charged with abusing young relatives in the 1980s at a farm in western Missouri. All of the men have pleaded not guilty. One died earlier this year.
[...]

Lawyers agreed during a hearing Monday to drop one count each of rape and use of a child in a sexual performance against Jared Mohler because the charges, one from 1986 and one from 1984, were brought after the statute of limitations expired, Lafayette County Prosecutor Kellie Wingate Campbell said.

Jared Mohler, who has been released on bond, still faces five other felony counts. His lawyer, Tim Larimore, did not return calls seeking comment Monday.

Campbell said charges related to incidents that allegedly occurred after August 1987 would stand.

"The bottom line is to meet statute of limitations we had to knock out the portion that was before the statute," she said. "I just intend to follow the law."
[...]

The trials for Burrell Sr., 79, David Mohler, 54, and Roland Mohler, 49, were transferred to Clay County, and Burrell Jr.'s trial was moved to Pettis County. Jared Mohler's trial was the only one kept in Lafayette County, where the original charges were filed.

Matthew 19:14:

"Let the children come to me and do not forbid them, for the Kingdom of Heaven belongs to such as these.” You motherfuckers ARE NOT CHILDREN.

Oh & if we pair both of those nice bible verses together:

You have basically molested/raped/killed Jesus because you wanted your pee pee to feel good.

I never quote bible verses but I guess a family that PREYS like this completely brings out the worst/religious side of me.

I agree with you 100% I'm sure everyone has heard of the Bernie Fine case in Syracuse by now. The third accuser is using that same line of defense. I consider that defense to be an insult to every survivor of childhood abuse.

Family members who accuse Burrell Mohler Sr. and four of his sons of molesting them more than 25 years ago have less than a month to turn over physical and mental health records if they want to have their stories heard in court.

Clay County Circuit Judge Larry Harman said this week repeated delays in the trials of all five men have been caused by the reluctance of the men's accusers to turn over records attorneys on both sides contend are critical to their cases.
[...]

The accusers _ all siblings _ told The Associated Press in a statement earlier this month they want to tell the court what happened to them, and that they are providing the records.

In his order, Harman set a March 21 deadline for all of the required records to be turned over.

"Failure to provide the ordered information will result in an order excluding the testimony of any witness who has not fully cooperated," he wrote.

Defense attorneys have argued that if the accusers really suffered the abuse they claim _ including pregnancies, forced abortions and bestiality _ there would be health records detailing injuries the children sustained. Instead, the attorneys contend the alleged victims met with a counselor who somehow convinced them they had been molested.

The attorneys have requested a list of physical and mental health care providers for at least five of the siblings _ including one whose claims are outside the statute of limitations _ and comprehensive health records going back to when they were small children.

The siblings initially said they didn't want to turn over their deeply personal information because they were afraid it would be leaked to the public. They cited several instances in which their names, and in some case their addresses, showed up in public court documents as the basis for their resistance.

Those fears have been eased somewhat with the appointment late last year of Discovery Judge Michael Maloney to review the records and decide what should be provided to attorneys. Since he issued a mid-December order for discovery, Maloney has received thousands of pages of health records from some of the alleged victims, but not all.
[...]

The accusers said they didn't remember until 2008 many of the sadistic acts they claim the older men committed decades earlier.

Meanwhile, another trial has been pushed back because of the discovery issue. Burrell Mohler Sr., who was released last week after more than two years behind bars, had been scheduled to go to trial in April, but that has been taken off the docket.

Next in line is the trial for Burrell Mohler Jr., scheduled for May 15 in Pettis County.

ALL CHARGES DROPPED!

A Missouri prosecutor said Wednesday she was dropping all charges against five men accused of sexually molesting young relatives on a western Missouri farm more than 20 years ago, saying she doubted she could convince a jury that the bizarre claims were true.

"Whether or not I believe the allegations is an independent question from whether or not I believe I can prove each and every element of the case beyond a reasonable doubt at trial," prosecutor Kellie Wingate Campbell told The Associated Press after notifying courts in three counties of her action.
[...]

"This was a highly unusual series of cases and the outcome should not deter other victims of crime from reporting those crimes," Campbell said.

Two of the men, Burrell Sr., 79, and Burrell Jr., 56, spent more than two years behind bars before being freed on bond in recent weeks. In September, Darrel Mohler, 74, died in his sleep at his home in Florida.

Defense attorneys had increasingly argued that unfair trial delays were caused by the accusers' reluctance to turn over deeply personal medical and mental health records, as ordered by a judge.
[...]

"One thing is coming after childhood medical records, mental health records," one of the accusers told the AP on Wednesday, before Campbell's decision to drop charges. "But they're coming after adult stuff, too. Can we be any more cooperative with them? I can't take any more of the defense saying we're not being cooperative."

Allegations against the men included that the elder Mohler, an ordained minister, conducted wedding ceremonies in which young girls were "married" to older relatives so they could have sex.

The shocking accusations also included tales of bestiality, pregnancies and murders on the farm south of Bates City. Initially, five siblings were involved in the cases. Last year, cases involving one of the accusers were dropped because the statute of limitations had run out. And last week, another of the alleged victims asked to be removed from the case, resulting in a charge against Burrell Mohler Jr. to be dismissed.

Campbell said no murder charges were filed because no bodies had ever been found.

The woman who spoke with AP stood behind the murder allegations.

"We know what happened and can't deny it," she said. "What's so unbelievable about someone killing someone? It absolutely happened."http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/03/07/mohler-family-sex-case-missouri_n_1328116.html

One alleged victim told Lafayette County detectives she was raped by one uncle when she was 5, and by her grandfather when she was 6. The next year, she told the detectives, her dad got into bed with her and her sister and raped them both.

Ultimately, four sisters told authorities stories of repeated abuse. Repeated rapes, including in a chicken coop. Mock weddings between the little girls and their uncles, forced sex with animals and grandpa orchestrating it all.

At least five of Ed Mohler’s six children told investigators in 2009 that their relatives abused them two decades ago. That fall, investigators began digging at the old family farm in southwest Lafayette County looking for jars the children said they’d buried with notes describing their abuse. Detectives also combed the area for evidence of a murder the alleged victims said their father had forced them to commit.

No solid evidence was found to support those stories. Search warrants indicated that detectives did find incest pornography magazines in Burrell Sr.’s Independence home.

Most of the allegations that led to the charges came from repressed memories that surfaced since 2008, according to court records.

Filing the charges “wasn’t an uneducated, haphazard decision,” Campbell said. “It was well thought-out.”

At the time, prosecutors didn’t know how some of the memories had been recovered. Only through depositions in the case, and as months passed, did some of that come out.

“What was learned about how the memories were recovered became an issue,” Campbell said, adding that she couldn’t elaborate. “Sometimes what comes to you in black and white changes over time. … Information became more clear after charging.”

Court records show that on several occasions, the alleged victims didn’t provide names of health care providers and mental health counselors when asked. Defense attorneys said they needed to speak with doctors and analyze records to determine the validity of the allegations.
[...]

Campbell said she knows people on both sides are questioning her decisions. Some question why she filed the charges, others why she dismissed them.

As she learned more about repressed memories, Campbell said, she discovered much controversy, even among experts.

“You get folks all over the map,” she said. “… We’re still in the Dark Ages when it comes to understanding repressed memory.

“And that hurts. If the experts haven’t figured it out, how can a jury?”

Since the 1990s, debate has raged over whether memories can be repressed, and if so, for how long. And if a repressed memory can be recovered, how reliable can the details be?

“Recovered memories are allowed in court,” said Suzanne Tiapula, director of the National Center for the Prosecution of Child Abuse, a part of the National District Attorneys Association. “It depends on what is being recalled and how.”

In court, defense attorneys frequently have argued that the memories are false — fabricated events impressed upon vulnerable minds by poorly trained therapists, forensic interviewers or law enforcement officials.

The issue became a national debate in 1983 after the now notorious McMartin Preschool case. An accusation by one mother who suspected that her son might have been sexually abused by the owner of the Manhattan Beach, Calif., preschool led authorities to send a letter to the parents of all the children at the school.

By 1984, forensic interviewers who spoke to the children suggested that as many as 360 of them might be victims of sexual abuse, although only about a dozen would testify.

It was later discovered that the interviewers used leading techniques that inadvertently planted false memories of abuse in the children’s minds.

The trial of the McMartin staff lasted six years. No one was convicted. All charges were dropped in 1990, leading to the general belief that no abuse probably ever occurred. Forensic interviewing underwent important changes.

“You have no idea how controversial this issue has been in my field,” said Rene McCreary, a licensed professional counselor and director of clinical services for the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault. “There is a lot of debate about false memory syndrome.”

Even now, there is no consensus regarding the repression of child abuse memories.

In court, the precision of a memory, especially one that is recovered long after it has allegedly been repressed, will by necessity come into question.

Phillip Esplin, an Arizona psychologist who testifies in court cases and prepared an affidavit for the defense in the Mohler case, said that “as you go below age 6, and particularly age 3, it is difficult to formulate clear memories.”

But for the vast majority of child abuse victims, he said, “the problem isn’t trying to remember it. The problem is trying to forget it.”http://www.kansascity.com/2012/03/09/3481401/mohler-case-leaves-doubts-on-all.html

Wow, it's been a long time since I've been able to post here! Thanks to the economy and my old employer I was out of work and without the internet for a little over a year. Thankfully things are looking up again with a new laptop and place of my own. I'm really happy to be back at the 'Demon.'

That being said, when I checked up on this thread (very personal to me for many reasons) I was heartsick. I can't imagine finally getting the courage to stand up and call the abusers out on their (I hate to say it) alleged crimes only to have the charges dropped. There *was* physical evidence that backed up the victim's story, right? The jars? Not to mention the fact that there was more than one victim? Clearly the investigators believed the victims enough to have the men arrested at one point, right?

I'm just... well.. ugh... sad.

The accused get to go on with their lives and the victims will have to struggle to do the same. Thats one hell of a smack in the face. I hope the victims are getting any help they need.

Sorry for bumping this old thread up for just a personal note. I just couldn't help myself.

There wasn't any evidence found, they looked for the jars but never found anything.

I'm not saying I necessarily believe these people are innocent, but I sort of agree with the prosecutor's decision to drop the charges. I don't think I could convict someone of anything based on someone else's recently-recovered memories. I have memories of things that I couldn't possibly remember. In some cases they must have been dreams, and in some cases they were stories I was told repeatedly about my earliest years until my brain convinced itself it could remember them. I just don't think the human brain is particularly reliable.
