Jason Shegog, 28, is accused of shaking his baby girl, leaving her with skull fractures and other injuries. His fiancée, 29-year-old Victoria Pursley, is charged with child neglect.
Police arrested them on Sept. 3 after Pursley took their then-6-week-old girl to the hospital.

A family friend who did not want to be identified said the the girl is on life support.
"It's very sick to know someone could do that to anybody, especially to a little baby that can't defend itself," the unidentified woman said.
She said she's known Shegog for several years and can't believe he could be accused of doing something so horrific.
She said prior to learning of the charges against him, she would have trusted Shegog to watch her own children.

According to police documents, the baby was brought in almost two weeks ago to Wolfson Children's Hospital after she was found limp and unresponsive.
After the infant was examined by doctors, she was diagnosed with multiple skull fractures, retinal hemorrhages, subdural hematomas and broken ribs.
Doctors also noted the victim had old healing injuries as well as new ones.
Shegog's fiancee, Pursley, was charged with child neglect because police said she couldn't explain to detectives how the baby got those injuries.
According to the report, Shegog told officers he once bumped the baby's head on a bedroom doorway as he entered the room but said he didn't believe that was what caused the injuries.
Police said he later admitted to shaking the baby four or five times, even demonstrating how he shook her when he did it.
"It's hard to say," unidentified woman said. "I just hope the baby somehow pulls through and doesn't have any long-term injuries and both parents get justice, not just one."http://www.news4jax.com/news/20951390/detail.html
The man who police believe attempted to take his own life before setting his Westside house on fire Wednesday evening was facing a aggravated child abuse charge.
Jason Shegog, 28, was found dead when firefighters being protected by SWAT officers entered the burning home. According to the police report, a witness who saw Shegog earlier in day said Shegog was bleeding from the wrist and had burns on the upper half of his body.
The witness, who had been staying at the home, said Shegog went out of the house, returned with a gasoline can and entered his bedroom. She told police Shegog said to her, "If ya'll want me to leave, this is how I will go."
Police were called to the Cedar Hills neighborhood just after 4 p.m., and because Shegog had threatened suicide, the SWAT team surrounded the house and a hostiage negotiator was called in.
[...]
When the fire that had been burning slowly flared up, firefighters were sent in to put out the fire and a man's body was found inside.
[...]
The child, who is in the custody of the Florida Department of Children and Families, is recovering from her injuries.
