April 6, 2008 -- A Long Island loon was nabbed yesterday after he booby-trapped his home, police said.
Eric Stetz, 44, of Bay Shore, rigged his front and bedroom doors with a pair of crutches with blades - including a carving knife and a hooked carpet knife - linked with duct tape, cops said.
The crutches were attached to the doors with bungee cords, and were set to fall or swing out onto unsuspecting visitors.
"It was a real crude setup," said one police source. "Somehow, you push the door open, the strings get tighter, and [the knives] snap into you," the source added.
After his arrest, Stetz asked investigators, "Did anyone get hurt with my knives? I wish they did," according to another law-enforcement source.
