Football Star Steven Ballinger Video Tapes Sex With 12-Yr-Old Gets Probation

A former All-America running back at MacMurray College must serve two and a half years of probation after admitting he had sex with a girl in 2006 and filmed it.

Twenty-nine-year-old Steven Ballinger of Fairview Heights pleaded guilty on Wednesday to St. Clair County charges of child pornography and aggravated criminal sexual abuse.

Prosecutors dropped two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and a charge Ballinger possessed cocaine.

Authorities say Ballinger had sex with a girl who was then 12. Ballinger now is barred from contact with the victim and must register as a sex offender.

Ballinger held the career rushing record at MacMurray College in Jacksonville, where he was a Division III All-America selection in 2001 and 2002.

Steven Ballinger, 29, of 67 Peachtree Court in Fairview Heights, must pay $5,480 for electronic monitoring, complete a sex offender treatment program, submit DNA and register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.

In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed two counts of predatory criminal sexual assault and a unlawful possession of a controlled substance charge.



Ballinger's son, Romell, was featured in a News-Democrat story after Associate Judge Ellar Duff ordered the 2-year-old boy taken from his foster parents, where he was placed when 2 days old.

Romell was born June 29,, 2007 exposed to cocaine and was removed from his mother's custody by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services and placed with Stella and Jimmy Hartwick.

Steven Ballinger's mother, Eleanora Mitchell, discovered she was Romell's grandmother when he was 9-months-old and began efforts to obtain custody.

Duff gave custody to Mitchell in August. She also barred any visitation between Romell and the Hartwicks.

Why is it that women always say they want a good man but chose AZZ HOLES over us? You could rub her feet, massage her legs, leave her love letters, compliment her all day, but there is always that AZZ HOLE that calls her Stupid, a Slut, Cunt, Whore, Fat, Ugly, or doesn't even cal her at all, and you are the one she treats like SHIP. Why is that? I've tried to master the dating game and have learned the the less attention you give to a female the more she will want to be apart of your world, and if you let her know she has your heart in her hand she forgets and crushes it like nothing happened. Then she jumps back to square one with the BULL SHIP line I always get screwed over and no one wants me. But when she crushed your world that was water under the bridge. Why is that? Is the AZZ HOLE route the one to go because I can tell you first hand that women always GRIPE about not having a good man but they eventually turn us all into AZZ HOLES by chasing them. It's ANY given night and all of us nice guys are sitting at home wondering where you are, and you are probly out drinking and talking to an AZZ HOLE with only bad intentions right now. If you are a nice guy and you read this you probly understand where I am coming from, but if you are that AZZ HOLE then congradulations because you are infecting the population like a VIRUS. If you are one of those WOMEN truly looking for a good guy then you found me, but if a AZZ HOLE is what you require then I left the stage like so 4 years ago.

Collinsville man given probation in state court for child porn gets 30 years from feds



A Collinsville man given probation in state court for having sex with a 12-year-old was sentenced to 30 years in federal prison Friday.

Federal prosecutors went after Steven D. Ballinger, 31, after he was sentenced to probation in Madison and St. Clair counties for the 2006 attack. He videotaped himself having sex with the girl, which led to a federal indictment in June of last year on the charge of production of child pornography.

Ballinger pleaded guilty in March to the federal charge in front of U.S. District Judge David Herndon. At the time, First Assistant U.S. Attorney James L.
