I think Thanks are back. Groans are not. I thought it was better without any recognition. I see thanks as unnecessary support tools in three things. The words should speak for themselves. The reps are still there and can be used but no one can see them and they can't be used to sway opinion.

I see the Thanks in TT as a great way to show appreciation for a post, regardless of whether or not you agree with it. This is especially true with members like Athena who are always posting high quality, and for which I never seem to be able to rep (some silly assed rule about spreading it around).

As far as Thanks swaying opinion, who the fuck cares? It shouldn't matter what others think if you believe in what you are saying, or have the proof required to make your point. That thread is not a social social page, and if you feel need to agree with your friends, and vice versa - or it's important that you to be on the "popular" side of an argument - it's probably best to stick to the bullshit threads; You're missing the point of Three Things.

Absolutely not Malq. I was just saying that it would be foolish to remove a convenient tool because it may make sheep :sheep: change their opinion.

I see it happen too, but my question is: Who cares? Who values the opinion of those who decide what they think based who is thanking a post?

And taking your argument a bit further, perhaps it is actually a service. It allows those incapable of original thought the ability acquire a pose based on what their current hero says. So it's all good, everyones happy :laughing: I can't really see a down side.

BTW - my comment about missing the point was aimed only at those who need to agree with their friends or be on the popular side of an argument. But if the shoe fits...
