Dakota Cheyenne Butler, 16, was charged with second-degree murder and his brother, Zachary Albert Butler-Martinez, 18, is charged with a lesser felony in the stabbing death of Cody D. Casey, 17, in Rosemount last week.

Armed with a sock that had a rock inside it, 17-year-old Cody Casey refused to leave the Rosemount home premises of the young man he believed liked the girl he'd asked to prom that morning.

Interesting story. The kid who got stabbed went to their house with a sock filled with rocks and refused to leave. It also appears he hit the kid in the head with the rocks after he refused to leave. Potential for self defense is there. All over a girl.....stupid!

I doubt they'll try him as an adult because of his record. I've been in situations like this. Someone came to my house with a baseball bat one time and I got a kitchen knife, but it didn't escalate like this. This story definitely strikes a chord in me.

I dunno, I've been thinkin' on this story for a while. Sad business. They were just kids, ya know, didn't know what to do.
