France - A severely disfigured French woman, found dead this month after a court rejected her request for euthanasia, took a lethal overdose of barbiturates, a prosecutor said on Thursday.

Former schoolteacher Chantal Sebire, 52, asked for the right to die to alleviate the suffering caused by a rare and incurable tumour, which deformed her face, causing her to lose her eyesight and the senses of smell and taste.

UC, this is really sad. The state will end the lives of persons convicted of certain crimes but not allow those suffering to "legally" end theirs...somehow, that just doesn't make sense.

Looks like the JUDGE got overruled in this case! By the plaintiff, no less. Wonder if they're gonna slap her with a contempt charge, now? Not that it would do much good......:p

Couldn't see, smell, or taste...yet she could still hear the screams of the small children she scared whenever she went out.
If there is a god he/she is just plain cruel hiding behind a facade of goodness.
