A Suffolk karate instructor accused of sexually molesting 10 of his students and videotaping some of the acts was charged in a new indictment unsealed Monday with abusing two more children.
James Bonfiglio, 37, the former owner of Excel Karate Academy in Ronkonkoma, now faces 70 counts involving sexual abuse of minors, as a 27-count indictment was added to the 43 charges he was arrested on in February.
The grand jury indictment includes 19 felony counts of oral or anal intercourse with a minor under 17 years of age, 5 felony counts of sexual intercourse with a person under 15 years of age, one count of disseminating indecent material to minors, and one count of sexual abuse of a child.
Suffolk detectives found hours of graphic video on Bonfiglio's computer, as well as cameras hidden in the bathroom of his apartment and karate school.
Among the videos were scenes of Bonfiglio masturbating with three boys, ages 9 and 14 or 15, in a bedroom in his family's home.
Arrested at his home Friday, Bonifiglio was held in custody in lieu of $1 million cash bail.
