DeKalb County police describe it as a case of 21-year-old babysitter versus two-year-old boy -- a new version of an old, tragic tale.

The boy is dead. The babysitter, Desmond Walker -- the boyfriend of the child's mother -- is in jail charged with murder.

And Walker may face additional felony charges.

"Our detectives believe that there may be some possible signs of sexual assault," said Mekka Parish of the DeKalb County Police Department. "They have also uncovered some additional signs of physical abuse."

The child's mother had left her two-year-old, as well as the infant she and Walker had together, in Walker's care Thursday at the extended-stay motel where they lived, Country Hearth Inn and Suites, on Guy Road, near Candler Road and I-20.

How depressing. My initial response? "Ho hum, another asswipe killing/assaulting gf's baby."

What's it gonna be? Blunt force trauma? Shaken baby?

Shitty way to get the week started...but not nearly as bad as that baby.

How many people live in extended-stay hotels? I would think that would be really expensive.

What really got to me was the description of the bloody bathroom...sounds like it was a pretty vicious attack. :(

Those extended-stay motels are not cheap. I had to stay in one in Denver for 2 weeks and it set me back $500.

Think about it like this, though: If two weeks costs $500.00, then it would cost about $1250.00 per month. A one bedroom apartment in that area probably rents for much more than that, and you would also have electric and gas bills. ES Hotels cover everything, and they are also already furnished. It may very well have been cheaper for them to stay in that hotel than it would have been to lease an apartment or house.

And, for the record, I think they should kill this pos babykiller as soon as possible. He is using oxygen that could be going to someone much more deserving.

I guess another advantage of the extended stay motels...you don't have to clean up all that icky blood after you savagely murder a toddler. I wonder if they'll be using that in one of their ad campaigns?
