OKEECHOBEE COUNTY — A man wearing handcuffs and boxer shorts who ran from deputies late Thursday after being arrested remains on the loose, according to a Friday news release from the Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office.
Reed Ashton Hair, 20, was arrested about 11:18 p.m. Thursday in the 4700 block of Highway 710 in a rural portion of the county, deputies said. Hair had a Martin County warrant for dealing in stolen property.
Hair was being escorted in handcuffs to a patrol car when he jerked away and ran off in his boxer shorts, deputies said.
Okeechobee sheriff’s police dogs and a Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office helicopter searched for Hair, but he wasn’t caught, deputies said.
Hair, who is white, is described as 6-foot-1 and weighing pounds.
Investigators are seeking warrants for Hair for charges including escape, resisting without violence and theft.
