JACKSONVILLE, FL -- A toddler found wandering near busy Timuquana Road is back with his mother, thanks to a good Samaritan.
Jack Bamping said he saw what appeared to be a one-year-old boy in shorts and a t-shirt walking on the side of the road as he drove to work Friday morning.
He pulled over, grabbed the kid and walked up to a nearby house that had the front door wide open.
Bamping said he woke up the boy's mother, handed over the boy and called police.
The boy appeared fine. The mother told Bamping the boy did get out of the house. She wouldn't say how or who was supposed to be watching him.
Bamping said what disappointed him most is that police took about an hour and a half to get there.
The Florida Department of Children and Families says it interviewed the mother and it appears it was just an accident.
They say it is unlikely she will face criminal charges.http://www.firstcoastnews.com/news/local/news-article.aspx?storyid=144071&provider=rss
