HARRISON TWP., Ohio -- A Harrison Township father is in jail on child endangering charges.

Montgomery County Sheriff's deputies said he locked his 2-year-old twins in a room and left the house. Authorities said three other children were also left alone that range in age from 10 to 5 years old, so he could allegedly go to a bar.

According to reports, the oldest child called her grandmother and said she was frightened because she heard someone in the backyard. That is when the grandmother rushed over. "I told her you keep those doors locked. I'm on the way, " said the Grandmother who did not want to be identified.

The woman said she found her five grandchildren home alone. According to Montgomery County police reports, Gary Rodgers left the five children to go to a bar. Their mother had abandoned the family several days ago.

The grandmother also told us that she was so shocked to see the living conditions in the School Drive home, that she called the sheriff's department. "It was filthy, filthy and disgusting," she said.

When deputies arrived, they found something even worse. Reports said an officer found the man's two-year-old twins "locked in a bedroom. Both children were asleep on the floor which was covered with plaster and other debris."

Officers said the door had a lock installed on the outside. The grandmother said, "I found out he locks them in there all the time." Reports said deputies also found urine and feces on the floor. Children's Services arrived and placed the kids in the custody of their maternal grandmother.

Reports said Rodgers eventually arrived home at 4 a.m. and appeared highly intoxicated when they took him into custody.

Currently, Rodgers is in the Montgomery County Jail on five counts of endangering children.http://www.whiotv.com/news/20158474/detail.html

foul child abusing sack of shit. thank God for grandma; the kids have been thru hell, but there's a chance for them with love and a stable home. hopefully they will each get therapy, because the older kids are going to need it. :mad25:

The children were released to the custody of their grandmother.
Mother up and leaves her children, doesn't seem right that she can do that and not be charged, not be sought. I'm sure she knew this fuctard was not responsible might have left his ass for that reason. Now grandmother who is the mother of the woman who left these kids just days earlier, has the kids in her custody. Now, as much as thought sounds great, not right at all as she is a grandmother not the mother and probably lives on a fixed income now she has her grandbabies to care for. People suck so bad. Irresponsible fucks. This father is no father and the mother is a joke, a failure. Ultimately the children are shafted. Always seems to work that way....deplorable condition, crying, hungry living in filth.....

I am so glad that their was an older child that could call for help. She must have been very scarred being left to care for her siblings. Those babies might have been alone far longer with out the older sibling there. I hope grandma gets help from CPS. She's the only one who gives a damn. Sorry sweet ones. Every single one of you deserve far better, including grandma.

At 10 years old you shouldn't have to care for your siblings. At 10 years old you should have rainbows and puppies to play with.

Dumbass dad.

I wonder where granny's daughter is. We can only hope, but maybe it's a case of mom needing to get away and get her shit together and then coming back for the kids.

Does the plaster covered floor the twins were sleeping on indicate that they fell asleep after they tried to claw their way out?

I thanked you, but I don't why. The twins clawing their way out is scary beyond belief.

At least these kids have one responsible older adult in their lives. I wonder what the mother's excuse for leaving her kids will be?

How do we know which irresponsible parent belongs to the grandmother?

Could have been his mom ..

I couldnt figure out who's mom it was in the news article. 5 kids is a bit much for a granny to deal with especially twin 2 year olds. Its still going to put way to much responsibility on the 10 year old and makes me sad.
