A 4-year-old boy who told 911 dispatchers through tears that his mom had passed out at "the mail place" will be awarded with a Bravery Medal during the Tampa Police Department's monthly awards ceremony this afternoon.

Alisia Givens was driving with her son, Andre, last month when she began to feel uncomfortable and pulled into the U.S. Post Office on Nebraska Avenue, police said. With the car in park, she passed out at the wheel.

Andre used his mother's cell phone to call 911, allowing dispatchers to track the call back to the unconscious Givens. She was taken to a hospital, treated and released, police said.

Tampa police Chief Steve Hogue will present the medal to Andre and the dispatchers downtown.

I heard this 911 call tonight. What a precious little boy! The dispatcher kept thinking he was saying the mall place. When she finally figured out what he was saying she asked, "the Post Office?" He was so relieved! What a doll. And a little hero.
