LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) - Tuesday night, Lake Charles Police responded the 1900 block of Mill Street in reference to a missing child.

"They were notified that a five year-old girl was missing for some time. Those patrol officers notified our detective unit," said Sgt.. Mark Kraus.

Quinjarvis Durgan made the report to police. After canvassing the neighborhood, residents told police they had seen a white man in a red truck and were concerned she may have been abducted. Police took those concerns seriously and issued an amber alert.

"In cooperation with the information we had with the mother, we began our amber alert process which is very rare. We notified the Lake Charles Fire Department, the Office of Homeland Security, and along with the Office of Child Safety and Welfare," said Kraus.

After searching more than three hours, Lake Charles Police found her in one of the most unlikely places and they say her mother knew where she was the entire time.

"One of the patrol officers who was with the mother, saw the mother had signaled to the vehicle in a matter of don't come in this area. That person turned around and that patrol officer stopped them. He found to his disbelief the missing child was inside that car," said Kraus.

Police say Durgan left the child with a relative.

"That mother from what we can gather was trying to teach her husband a lesson who she believed at one point was less than responsible for the child," said Kraus.

Right , I think my husband isn't being responsible for our child..what can I do? Oh, I know!! I'll fake her abduction! That will teach him! Even though it will waste police resources and make it harder for the next set of parents who report their child missing to be believed, as long as I teach him a lesson, who cares?! Seriously, it's a shame being a selfish bitch isn't a felony.

Wow. Well, her name is "Quinjarvis". I might act out too. :tongue2:

I once stole back a lawn mower to teach my boyfriend a lesson... but I didn't call the police and waste resources trying to "find" it. I just let him run around thinking "Oh, SHIT," like a chicken with his head cut off for a brief minute before coming clean and lecturing him about being reckless with mah family's shit.

(Before we lived together, he borrowed my dad's mower and had left it, unsecured, in the open trunk of a car at a friend's house on the side of the road. A girlfriend and I happened to drive past, and when we saw the mower just sitting there, we pulled up, transferred it to my car and took off. I got a frantic call half an hour later. He said, "Someone took the mower!" I responded, feigning worry, "What? What do you mean? What did you do with it?" He said, "I don't know - it was in the trunk of the car..." I cut him off and said, "That's RIGHT motherfucker! It was in the trunk... the OPEN trunk... for anyone to come by and take! What were you thinking?!?" Confused, he studdered. "Jessica and I grabbed it to teach you a lesson. You can't just leave shit like that out on the side of the street." Jessica and I had a good chuckle at his expense and he hated us briefly, but the lesson was learned... thoroughly.)

I appreciate her intent, but damn... she shot way the fuck past teaching a lesson and, hopefully, ended up learning one.

From Ninja's link:Lake Charles Police estimate, the false report cost the city of Lake Charles more than ten thousand dollars and have concerns if this situation were to happen again.

"It may diminish the next time we notify the public we have an abduction. Maybe someone is going to think this is a hoax just like the last one and not going to get involved. When a child goes missing, police need everybody involved," said Kraus.

She has a husband? How are they going to afford restitution AND food for her?
