This is no misguided attempt at discipline. This bitch was a stone cold sadist. And I bet the husband was a pussy-whipped spineless fuck who just looked the other way and did what she said. I think they should both starve and suffer like they made their nephews suffer.
Dressed neatly in a dress shirt and tie, the now-10-year-old boy matter-of-factly told jurors Monday that Scott and Molly McCurry tied him and his brothers to their beds and deprived them of food.
The McCurrys face three counts each of felony child neglect and three more counts each of unlawful neglect.
A neighbor notified police in July 2006 after becoming concerned about the three boys, then ages 8, 7 and 5, who were in the McCurrys' custody. When police arrived, they found the boys in a state of starvation, looking extremely thin and very weak, with the 5-year-old weighing less than 20 pounds and described in an incident report as looking like a skeleton.
The 8- and 7-year-old boys each weighed less than 40 pounds, according to the incident report.
The oldest child, who is one of Molly McCurry's nephews, testified during the first day of the McCurrys' trial that he and his brothers were tied to their bunk beds, most often by one hand, sometimes by their feet. They were forced to urinate or defecate on themselves during the night while tied to the bars of their beds, he said.
The three boys weren't allowed to play outside, but stood at their front door during the summer months wearing bookbags strapped to their backs with cat litter or Clorox inside, he said.
During the school months, the boys would eat lunch and occasionally breakfast at school, but didn't ask to eat at home because they knew they would be "whupped" if they did or if they tried to get food from the cabinets, he said.
On Monday, the boy testified that when the McCurrys ate with their then-10-year-old biological daughter, the boys were forced to watch. The child said there were times when he would save food to share with his two younger brothers.
When asked whether he ever told adults of his living conditions, the boy replied that he didn't because he knew he would "get into trouble."
Molly McCurry's attorney, Clay Allen, said during opening statements that the couple had custody of her nephews and their biological daughter, who was in good physical condition when police took the boys in emergency protective custody three years ago.
Allen said the family lived in poor circumstances, with one operating car and no working refrigerator or telephone. Allen denied that his client deprived the children of food, but said they had been sick, vomiting and with diarrhea, in the days before the McCurrys' arrest.
Scott McCurry's attorney, Doug Brannon, says his client worked 60 to 90 hours per week in his construction job and brought home $1,700 to $2,200 weekly to support the family. The mobile home where the family lived, however, was in foreclosure and Molly McCurry "squandered" her husband's earnings and had wrecked the family car in an attempt to buy drugs, he said.
Both McCurrys have pleaded not guilty to the charges. The state will continue presenting its case this morning.

i'm confused...even $1,700 a week = $6,800= thats a lot of money...no working refrigerator or telephone??? fuck, me and hubs only had one car for years....now we have a car and a scooter! hell, he could have left her and put all the kids in daycare and had enough to live on (very well)...:alberteinstein:

Investigators said the McCurry’s would punish the boys by tying them to their beds to keep them away from food. They said that when the children were found all three of them had lice and bruises on their heads, legs and backs
Some articles report Dennis McCurry and others say Scott, so, dimwits full name must be Dennis Scott... I'll just call him Ball-less McCurry! In the video, it shows the couple at their first appearance, Ball-less tells the Judge that the boys all had been sick with a stomach virus! Bah!! Judge called BS....
Now, I'm not placing blame on anyone but these two cold-hearted twits, but, I was just wondering "aloud", why didn't the school notice the boys being malnourished and question it???
Thank God, for the concerned neighbor that called in on these two and saved the boys lives!
And it seems to me, there are alot of Starvation cases coming to light lately! Starving a child to death, dayum, that's so slow and painful, it's more evil, because it's prolonged and torturous! Of course, any abuse to a child is evil, I just think, the perpetrators of the starving, get a thrill out of watching the slow process.....

Was the cat litter or Clorox used as opposed to allowing them a bath perhaps?

I believe it was for punishment. Making them stand there with all that weight on their backs.

Molly's arm still hasn't healed (it was in a sling in 2006) I guess that's a bit of punishment for the ugly heart disease she also suffers from..... Bahwahaha

Scott & Molly, I hope that from this day forth you live the most miserable existence known to man. Your parents should have done the world a favor and just flushed you out.

When school is out the children will pay. The worst child abuse cases and many of those of starvation, come to light after the Summer, making September a hellacious month of reports for CPS.
Not sure when this happened but seems they were in school so teachers should have noticed something wrong. Very strange indeed. People like these bastards deserved a miserable life in prison, but even then that doesn't seem fair, they get 3 squares in prison.
Very good to see people like this neighbor reporting something wrong. That's all it takes sometimes to end the misery of children.
Be happy and safe little ones.

that's so freakin sad i wanna cry
"When the boy was asked if he ever told adults what was going on he said he didn’t because he would get in trouble.
He also said that he and his brothers rarely got to eat. He said sometimes they had to sit at the kitchen table and watch the rest of the family, including the McCurrys’ 10-year old biological daughter, eat dinner. "

I'm with the rest here regarding school officials. It takes a while for children at that age to have their muscle mass and fat reserves diminish. Unfortunately, some school systems are suffering from overcrowding and I know here, during lunch time, students are not given enough time to eat their meals. That just pisses me off. They shuffle them out of the lunch room and out to recess. There are students who's parents don't send lunch money - don't sign up for free and reduced lunches if they can't afford them. The company that supplies the meals also includes bread, peanut butter, and jelly for those children who do not eat. It's free. Yet in some schools, the lunch personnel are too lazy to extend the amount of time required to fix a damn sandwich for these students. It is disturbing. So much so, my oldest daughter wanted to petition the Board of Education.
All it takes is "paying attention". Granted, some children hit a growth spurt and it takes a bit for everything to catch up. But if school officials started noticing clothes hanging on these boys from the same family, gaunt faces, loss of muscle tone, sunken eyes, dull eyes, for the love of Pete, something is happening in that home. Everyone working in the educational field are "mandatory reporters" meaning, if they see signs of some form of abuse, they are required to report it.
Here is a PDF (http://www.olemiss.edu/programs/mtc/Media/Writings/docs/Focus%2006%20PDF/Dausen.pdf) article regarding teachers and mandatory reporting. Other searches showed, although required by law, teachers are slow to react.

McCurrys daughter testified against her parents during the trial, she confirmed what her cousins told the investigators!
Video here: http://www.foxcarolina.com/video/20154905/index.html
Both McCurrys took the stand, too! Dennis the menace, says the older boys were molesting the younger boy, that's why he zipped tied them to their beds! Yeah right, Dennis Scott, you couldn't tell the truth if your life depended on it, obviously... I hope the Judge finds that he perjured himself...Asshat!
Molly the #1 menace tells about food that she supposedly cooked for the boys, you can see that she can't even think of the foods name, let alone know how to cook it and serve it....
I am really proud for this child, very courageous of her to tell the truth and I hope she overcomes the guilt she must have felt while witnessing her parents actions! This is a good start, telling the truth and seeing her cousins get justice!

SPARTANBURG, S.C. -- The jury returned a guilty verdict against Molly and Scott McCurry, a Spartanburg couple accused of abusing three boys in their care.
Both were convicted of three counts of child abuse and three charges of unlawful conduct toward a child.
The jury received the case around 12:30 Thursday afternoon, and returned the guilty verdict shortly after 3:00 p.m.
Scott McCurry's lawyer requested for the jury to be polled, and each said "guilty" when asked.
Right now a judge is preparing a sentence.
