Fucking Canucks. ;)

Great avatar, by the way. I'm in charge of girly handcuff bad-girl behavior, should you ever need anything. We love brain analysis here, so please feel free to share your opinions anytime, on anything.

Except Free Bird. I hate that song. :)

I'm kind of an honorary Canadian. I live in Seattle and work for a company owned by Canadians. It's very "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" in that you would never know the difference until one of them says "schedule" or "pasta" or the famed "about". :p Anyhoo, the Canadian Flag pin and the inukshuk figurine commemorating the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver reminds me daily of which country I have to thank for my paycheck. :D

Welcome to yhe site, Mom! Hope you stick around. :)

Ha thats funny Athena! I have an uncle who lives in Texas and has for over 20 years. He has taken on some accents and uses words like "y'all" now. He laughs his ass of when I say "about" now on the phone. I never noticed the difference until he pointed it out to me.

Welcome. For the record, though I am not Canadian, my entire family is. I do in fact have dual citizenship to their. Lived in Ottawa when I was a little kid, and still keep a Canadian passport.

I'm a Newfoundlander. I'm new here; I found this site when I was on Youtube and I watched a news clip of a pedophile and I googled his name to get more info on the case. Up popped Dreamin' Demon and I have been hooked ever since! Nice to meet you all!

I notice you are a social worker? That's what I am studying, too! I love it. I cannot wait to finish so I can go to work. I am really interested in addictions or corrections.

Did I read that you are a social worker? That's what I am studying, too! I love it. I cannot wait to finish so I can go to work. I am really interested in addictions or corrections, although I don't think I can work with child molestors, knowing that a) I can't fix them and no amount of rehabilitational programs will b) that if I help them get into support groups, the bastards only network when they are there and c) I hate them with a passion and think they are beyond fixing. So addictions it will be, I guess. ;)

What capacity have you or are you working in?

Hey Funnymommy!

Actually I am a Psychologist and I have made my specialty troubled and high risk teens. I worked for the CAS after College while continuing my quest for a psychology degree in University.

I loved working for the CAS when I started out. Aside from the bureaucratic red tape, taking children out of abusive homes was rewarding and made me feel like I was making a difference. I also volunteered with VCARS (Victims Crisis Assistance & Referral Services) and still do.

Once I obtained my degree I decided it was time to move on so to speak. You see I really had no patients with adults who abuse children for obvious reasons lol. I realized I could do more good helping kids who had been abused physically, mentally and sexually than I could trying to "fix" the fucked up adults who did that to their kids. Very few as you know can be "fixed" and given that the objective of the CAS was to reunite families my job was making me a bigger bitch than I needed to be and I was becoming jaded.

I absolutely love what I do now! I hope you feel the same way when you begin your career. Addiction is a great field and sadly there is a great need in that area. Good luck with the rest of your schooling. Glad you found this site too.
