A woman gave birth to a baby girl in a portable toilet at a park Monday morning, then left the baby there.
Cambridge Police say 44-year-old Candy Michelle Vigneri gave birth at around 9:30 a.m. in a toilet at Long Warf Park.
Vigneri then warned a passer by not to go in the stall because she just had baby.
Police say Vigneri then bummed a cigarette from the passerby.
That passerby called police and Vigneri and her baby were taken to Easton Memorial Hospital.
Vigneri has been released from the hospital to police custody and is charged with child abuse and reckless endangerment.
The baby is still at the hospital and will be released to Dorchester Co. Social Services.http://www.abc2news.com/news/local/story/Woman-Gives-Birth-Abandons-Baby-In-Portable-Toile/mlVtlfFWQUKteaxWW1Oz9A.cspx
Maybe she was in shock? Why else tell the other person she just had a baby and left it? :noidea:

I gathered all this info from her ex-husband's and oldest children's myspaces, and also court records found at http://casesearch.courts.state.md.us/inquiry/inquiryDetail.jis?caseId=09C06014420&loc=46&detailLoc=CC.
She had her first child when she was teenager, the man stayed with her, they bought a house, had another child 6 or 7 years later and then divorced. He got full custody. At some point one of her children had her committed for mental illness. She has at least two children with two other men. One of the fathers filed for custody of the child and a restraining order for domestic violence. She also has been arrested for trespassing and battery.

According to police, officers learned that 44-year-old Candy Michelle Vigneri gave birth to a baby girl in a portable toilet located on the east side of Long Wharf Park. Police say that after giving birth, Vigneri left the infant in the portable toilet. A short time later a witness arrived in the area and was able to dial for emergency assistance. Both Vigneri and the infant were transported by ambulance to Easton Memorial Hospital for treatment.
The infant is listed in stable condition and will be released to the custody of Social Services, according to police.
On Wednesday, Vigneri was released from medical treatment and subsequently arrested and charged with first- and second-degree child abuse and reckless endangerment.
...Vigneri then warned a passer by not to go in the stall because she just had baby.Police say Vigneri then bummed a cigarette from the passerby.
Like nothing, as if she took a dump. Really, how is that woman not wanting a baby, treating them like shit, can go and have a baby in a freakn' toilet and walk out like nothing?....not fair.
So glad baby girl was retrieved alive. I'm hoping baby Nia, (as I will think of her), is placed in a loving home.

Geeze, a 44 year old bat shit crazy lady.
I am kinda wondering was the seat down or up??? did they have to fish the poor kid out of the blue stuff or just pick it up off the floor???
Police say the woman delivered the girl inside of a portable toilet in Cambridge, on the Eastern Shore. Rescue crews were called to Long Wharf Park in Cambridge around 9:30 AM Monday morning.
They found the baby -- a girl – alive and taking shallow breaths inside the portable toilet. They stabilized her condition and took her to Memorial Hospital in Easton.
News of the shocking delivery has spread quickly through the small town. ‘There's so many people who can't have children and who want children and if she didn't want the baby, give it to somebody who does want it,’ said Jennifer Glover.
.....Melissa Cannon knows Vigneri; she says she does have other children. ‘You can tell by the way she looks and by the way she acts that there is really something wrong with her; that she does need some help,’ she said.
The baby girl was over six pounds at birth. Police say she's in stable condition.
‘It was wrong for her to do it like that,’ Cannon said. ‘If she had a baby the first thing she should have done was at least call for emergency help not run off and leave the baby.’
Vigneri is being held at the Dorchester County Detention Center. County social services will be responsible for the baby.

I can deal with a crazy lady abandoning a baby far better than a selfish evil lady doing it. I wonder why, since she is obviously unbalanced, she was not being monitored (even if it was only for the sake of the baby).

Remind me again why mandatory sterilization would be a bad idea in her case?

A mother of five is facing several charges after police say she abandoned her newborn in a portable toilet. The suspect's former inlaws, say her actions are a result of a woman struggling with mental illness for many years.
Candy married into the Vigneri family 25 years ago. Her former father in-law Pete says she was beautiful and full of life, but after giving birth to her second child she began to struggle with depression and schizophrenia. Pete says as the years progressed she became worse. "Our biggest fear was that the family one day would get a call and say we found Candy dead." said Pete Vigneri.

Virginia used to sterilize the mentally ill and disabled in the 1940's and 1950's. I believe it was ruled unconstitutional at some point. I saw a show about it years ago on tv. It was a huge scandal.

Now I dont care if she is whacko or not, thats just fucked up.
(CNN) -- A 44-year-old Maryland woman faces charges of child abuse after police say she gave birth in a portable toilet and dropped the newborn into the waste tank.
The man immediately called 911. Vigneri returned to the toilet and retrieved the newborn from the foul liquid at the base of the tank.
The baby was unresponsive and covered with a blue antibacterial chemical agent when emergency responders reached the scene, police said.
Vigneri told officers that she didn't know she was pregnant.
She was arrested Wednesday on charges of child abuse and reckless endangerment and is being held on a $50,000 bond.
The baby is in stable condition at Easton Memorial Hospital. Dorchester County social services will take control of the newborn after she is released from the hospital.
