SUFFOLK – A man used his child to protect himself from police officers holding tasers, police said.
Lu-tarkim Yuself Kearney, 28, is charged with abuse and neglect of children and giving an officer a false name.
He was arrested Tuesday.
but of course, his girlfriend defends his actions..
Kearney's girlfriend, Amy Chaney, said he picked the little boy up to keep him from getting hit by the door when officers came into the room.
"He loves his kids," she siad. "He would literally die for his kids, literally die for them."
even though he is wanted for an incident where he injured her..
Kearney was wanted for two outstanding warrants for failure to appear from a November 2007 destruction of property charge. The charges stemmed from a domestic dispute between the couple at Chaney's father's home. The charges allege Kearney pushed Chaney into a wall.
Child protective services is now involved in the case and has ruled that if Kearney gets out of jail, he cannot see his children until the investigation is over.
He's in custody and is due in court next month.
The child wasn't hurt.
