The whole story is very sad - not so much for the "father" but for the family that grew up in this environment.

SALLISAW, Okla. -- Sequoyah County sheriff's deputies were called to the home of 47-year-old Keith Foreman Thursday night after he was fatally shot by his daughter.

Sequoyah County Sheriff Ron Lockhart said Foreman was pronounced dead at the scene. Lockhart said the incident centers around the family's struggle with domestic violence.

The Foremans' country home is nestled in a community a few miles south of Sallisaw.

The home is where Lockhart said Foreman was abusing his wife for a number of hours.

"There was a phone cord wrapped around the mother's neck, knives pulled on her and guns pointed at her," Lockhart said.

When the couple's 22-year-old daughter arrived home, Lockhart said she knew instantly something was wrong.

"She realizes that there's been a disturbance -- furniture broke, mother crying (and) upset," Lockhart said.

According to the sheriff, the daughter's attempts to calm her angry father failed and the violence against her mother continued.

"(He) forced the mother to the ground face-first and was holding his weapon to the back of her head, forcing her to eat a sandwich that was lying on the floor and threatened to kill her," Lockhart said.

Fearing for her and her mother's life, Lockhart said the daughter went to a back bedroom, grabbed a gun and shot her father in the upper body.

Lockhart said during interviews with the mom and daughter he learned of a history of abuse.

"The mother was afraid she would be harmed if she did call police; that was one of the reasons she didn't," Lockhart said. "That's a typical domestic abuse victim. They're afraid to do anything because they've been threatened before."

The sheriff said the case now sits in the hands of the district attorney, but he said he views the act as a justifiable murder given the evidence of abuse.

If a defense fund is created for the daughter, I will send money to it.

Absolutely justifiable! That girl saved her mothers life. I don't know what the law says about taking an asshole out who has a gun to someone else's head, but it was clearly a public service and this young lady deserves a medal!

Its really sad that she is going to have to live with the memory and guilt of killing someone she most likely loved.

But I must say "HELL YES".

Good idea on the fund...

Yeah, she's going to be a little fucked up, but I'm glad she did it.

Sometimes this is not a popular opinion, but I am sorry this girl ever had to live a life in which she ultimately had to kill her father. Sad that she knew the story, sad that she even as an adult had to protect her mother. This has probably been going on all her life, and this is probably not even the worst incident. I think of the girl probably having had lived a life of utter helplessness, finally growing up and STILL being confronted with this when she's an adult--to the point that she actually had to kill her father. As someone with a pretty fucked up dad who did some shitty things, I know it still hurts, no matter how much you hate them.

Quite frankly, I hope that this mother realizes exactly what sacrifices that her beautiful daughter has performed for her. Yes I know the mother was a victim and her life probably sucked and always will. I can feel a modicum of pity and I don't deny she had it rough. But at some point I believe a person becomes a WILLING victim, and the worst part is not that she has made her choice until now to continue being a victim, but that her willingness forced this girl to be a victim and to FOREVER be a victim, living with what she has done.

If I'm correct in my assumptions, this brave and beautiful and STRONG woman had hell and heartache and fear and helplessness ly felt while growing up. It should have been her mother who protected her LONG ago instead of causing yet another nightmare. The jackass abuser got exactly what he deserved, but this girl has suffered yet another blow to her heart, and she is the LEAST deserving.

I hope that no one will consider taking this very far in the courts, and if they do, I hope that the girl can indeed form a defense that would win--but I hope more for a sign of fairness. I'll look back for updates and will contribute what I can too for any kind of legal help. It would be my pleasure.
