I love Florida's 10/20/life. Tards only 27 and going to spend the rest of his life behind bars, because he used a gun.

FORT PIERCE — A 27-year-old Port St. Lucie man faces mandatory life in prison after being convicted Wednesday evening of burglary of a dwelling with a firearm.

A jury deliberated less than an hour before finding Joel P. Daigle guilty.

Daigle also had been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, but the jury had not been told of his prior convictions on charges ranging from burglary to credit card fraud to drug possession so as not to prejudice their deliberations.

According to a Port St. Lucie Police Department report, Daigle stole DVDs, tools, three rifles and two bayonets from a Port St. Lucie residence where he was working. Soon afterward, he crashed his car into a truck on Southwest Savona Boulevard near Southwest Glastonberry Avenue.

The truck owner told police he saw Daigle run into some nearby woods with a bundle, which police later determined contained the stolen items.

Daigle is to be sentence Aug. 13 by Circuit Judge Dan Vaughn.

Sounds like he is stealing to support his habit. I wish he could have gotten help instead of a life sentence.

:cheer2::cheer2:

There has to come a point where society accepts that some people are as addicted to the crimes that they commit just as much, if more, than they are to any substance.

I'm not clear on the three strikes law.
I have seen several of these guys go by and they don't always get life with three felonies. I thought it was clear, 3 strikes and you are out.

Governor Bush and the Florida Legislature have worked together to adopt public-safety reforms such as 10-20-LIFE, the Three-Strike Violent Felony Offender Act, and the Habitual Juvenile Offender Accountability Act.

10-20-LIFE
Mandates a minimum 10 year prison term for certain felonies, or attempted felonies in which the offender possesses a firearm or destructive device
Mandates a minimum 20 year prison term when the firearm is discharged
Mandates a minimum 25 years to LIFE if someone is injured or killed
Mandates a minimum 3 year prison term for possession of a firearm by a felon
Mandates that the minimum prison term is to be served consecutively to any other term of imprisonment imposed

Ok, I feel bad he was stupid enough to use a gun and get life. Not that he got caught or is now going to jail. I hate to see anyone purposely ruin their own life.

And it was my birthday yesterday and I was feeling love for my fellow man. Cut me some slack. :D
