ST. LUCIE COUNTY — A couple from Cocoa each face drug-related charges after sheriff’s deputies approached them as they allegedly were “shooting” drugs at an Interstate 95 rest area, according to records released Friday.
Jerry Mac Carter Jr., 40, and his 38-year-old girlfriend, Jill S. Pokol, were in a gold Chevrolet Thursday afternoon at the rest area. Both reportedly had syringes and spoons with light-colored residue.
Carter, the passenger, told investigators he’d just gotten Roxicodone and Xanax from a pain clinic in Fort Lauderdale. He allegedly was sharing his medication with his girlfriend.
The two reportedly were “shooting” drugs when investigators approached. They allegedly were heating the Roxicodone on spoons to inject.
Carter faces a felony dispensing medication without a license charge and misdemeanor charges of possession of less than 20 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Pokol was arrested on a felony possession of a controlled substance charge and a misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia charge.
