Kinda makes me wonder how old the GF is if she has a 7-year old...but that's not really the point!
Evansville police said a local man, while fighting with his girlfriend on Friday, attempted to choke her and also ripped a heart monitor off of the chest of their 2-month-old son.
Zachary L. Turner, 19, of Mount Vernon, Ind., was arrested on preliminary charges of battery in a child’s presence, battery by strangulation, neglect of a dependent and interference with the reporting of a crime.
An affidavit said the incident occurred just before 5 p.m. at an East Missouri Street address. Turner’s girlfriend told police that he became angry about a conversation she had with the father of her other child, a 7-year-old.
She told police Turner put his arm around her throat while she was holding the child and also ripped off the child’s heart monitor.
She alleged that Turner knocked the phone from her hand while attempting to call 911, and that after she went outside to yell for help, Turner punched her and pulled her to the ground by her hair.
The 7-year-old child was present and spoke to police, according to the affidavit.
Turner was located by officers near Florida and North Main streets and taken to jail. Bond information was not available.
