EDEN, NC - A toddler was found roaming the streets of Eden Monday morning, police said.
At 11:49 a.m., officers responded to the area of Fieldcrest Road and Long Street in reference to an unattended child, according to a news release.
Two women were standing by with a three-year old boy, who they spotted while driving by in the area.
Detectives took a photograph of the child and canvassed the city in an effort to locate the child's caretaker in addition to utilizing the city's Code Red emergency communications network to sent automated calls to residents.
At 3:15 p.m., detectives made contact with Melissa Conners, 18 and Christina Sequin, 22, of 509 S. Fieldcrest Road, who identified the child as their nephew.
Conners had been babysitting the child for her sister who lives in Reidsville.
An investigation revealed that Conners was supposed to be taking care of the child but fell asleep, according to the news release.
When she woke up, she thought the child's mother had picked him up. Sequin had left the residence earlier in the day and had locked the door on her way out.

OR I'ma catch a ride down there wit jeremiah (anthonys bro) i'll try to call u wen i can.
