While on patrol in the area of Fifth Avenue and Sequoia Street, Hesperia Deputy John Clough saw a vehicle backed up to a wooden fence near a duplex style residence. While he began investigating, Deputy Bela Lukacs made contact with a male subject. While conducting a pat down search, Deputy Clough found a 2″ x 2″ baggie of suspected methamphetamine. He laid the drugs and a large sum of cash on the vehicle and the male, later identified as Raymond Albert, 57, grabbed the drugs and ran.

Other deputies responded and caught the subject who began to fight while shoving the drugs in his mouth. Albert continued to fight with deputies and was tased. Albert was transported to Desert Valley Hospital for treatment of the ingested drugs. Furthermore, the baggie appeared to have opened in his stomach and he began to overdose. He was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for further treatment.

He was arrested for resisting an executive officer and will be transported to West Valley Detention Center upon his release from the hospital.

A 57-year-old Hesperia man was arrested for resisting an officer after allegedly fleeing a deputy and swallowing a plastic bag containing drugs.

The arrest of Raymond Albert was made soon after Hesperia Deputy John Clough saw a vehicle backing up to a wooden fence near at residence near the corner of Fifth Avenue and Sequoia Street in Hesperia at around 1:30 p.m. on June 7.

During a pat-down search of Albert, Deputy Bela Lukacs allegedly discovered a two-inch baggie of suspected methamphetamine. Deputy Lukacs laid the drugs and a large amount of cash on the vehicle, and then Albert grabbed the bag of drugs and ran.

Other deputies chased the suspect, who fought the deputies and shoved the plastic bag into his mouth. The man continued to fight, prompting deputies to subdue him with a Taser, according to a Hesperia Police Station report.

Albert was transported to Desert Valley Hospital for treatment of the ingested drugs, which appeared to have come out of the plastic bag during the incident. As a result, he was beginning to overdose on the drugs, according to the report.

Albert was transported to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center for additional treatment. He was arrested for resisting an executive officer and will be transported to West Valley Detention Center after he is released from the hospital
