The Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office is looking for your help identifying a Jane Doe. The body of a female was recovered in a secluded wooded area in rurla Fond du Lac County on November 23, 2008.
Officials say the body was clothed at the time of discovery, and was partially decomposed. The body was clothed in blue jeans, and a black top with pink trim. Through medical and anthropological workups the following information was determined.
The victim is a female, may be Caucasian, however anthropology suggests that she also may be of Hispanic, Asian, or Native American decent. Height of the victim is believed to be 5 foot 1 inch, with a range of 3 inches plus or minus. The age of the victim is 15 to 21 years old with a range of 1 or 2 years plus or minus. The weight is estimated at 110 to 135 lbs (this is only an estimate). The victim might also have been knock kneed or pigeon toed, based on the anthropological examination. Hair is light brown to dark blond in color, and 12-14 inches long, with some color variation light and dark.

A woman was identified as murdered today and found in Fond du Lac. Could it be her?
Wait, a news update said the victim's body was burned, not decomposed. Not her, sorry.

Just beginning to skim around and look at the Fond du lac Jane.
http://www.nampn.org/cases/archer_olivia.html
Off by about 3 inches on the height, but the Doe article does say that it could be off by about that much.
Unfortunately there's not much on the net about Olivia Archer, and not much info regarding her disappearance.

Forensic entomologist Neal Haskell’s study of bugs found at the scene revealed her body began to decompose sometime between mid summer and Labor Day of 2008.

I wonder if they may have checked with the Indian Reservations in Northern Wisconsin, to find out if they have any Missing Persons?
The Oneida have a reservation west of Green Bay, And it certainly is possible that she could have been abducted around Green Bay and dumped in FDL. (FDL is only about an Hour and a half from Green Bay)

That's a thought, Michael.
I have a sinking feeling that she may not be from the area. If they are estimating that she was killed between summer and Labor Day, it's very possible that she could have come into the area from farther away.
For one thing, FDL is on the lake, and like all of WI, the summer months are definitely taken advantage of--I was immediately impressed on moving up here with the dedication of everyone to the outdoors, even in what I consider brutal winters. In summertime, everyone wants to be outside, and I imagine even more so on the lakes--rental cabins, campgrounds, etc are a huge attraction for everything from family gatherings to vacations to parties. Even here in central drab WI, we're on a lake somewhere very often.
Another thing that strikes me is that her clothing is what I would consider "weekend" or party clothes around here. It's what is worn to the equally popular bars. FDL is close enough to areas like this one that I know a lot of people periodically go up there for the weekends or to get to a bigger lake than our itty bitty ones are.
All this is wondering out loud of course. But I keep coming back to her clothing. Not only is it something I'd consider as a going-out type of outfit (which leads me to picture a girl out in an unfamilar social situation such as a party, gathering, etc), but it's also fashionable and nice, which means she's most likely not a transient or homeless... Which SHOULD have led to a missing persons report in the area by now, or which would have led to ID of the clothing if she was from the immediate FDL area. Since FDL is not only easily and frequently accessed by large areas of rural WI as we live in, but also is so close to major metropolitan areas such as Milwaukee and Green Bay, I'd almost bet that she's definitely not from around the immediate areas.
Another thing is that the possible time of death comprises so many things. I was also amazed at the number of outdoor music fests that Wisconsin has--even our itty bitty little village of 700 people has an annual music fest that is very well attended. Hubby goes to Rock Fest every July for the week, and of course there's the large Country Fest, Summer Fest, and a hundred more. It could also coincide with High School graduations--prime activities that go well in a place like FDL.

And hell, we ought to call the show Bones. Maybe their writers can give us some clues on how to narrow down the antropological findings, which seem to only exclude male gender and African Americans... :/

Mid Summer would put it at lets say End of July thru Labor Day.
Which includes The State Fair in Milwaukee, The EAA in Oshkosh, and all the smaller festivals around the Lake Front, plus all the Illinois folks who have cabins Up North who would be driving up Highway 41.
I wonder if she could have possibly been from the Chicago/ Northwest Indiana area?
This really is a stumper....

Yeah, and I just can't figure why there wouldn't have been a missing person notice at all. If I'm thinking right about her clothes and that it seems she was dressed nicely and therefore "belonged" to someone, you'd think that at some point one of her family/friends would have noticed that she was gone and associated a trip to FDL area with her. Know what I mean?
Another possibility is that she may be from Milwaukee or Chicago or any of the really large towns, and met someone from FDL there, and came to FDL area on a whim? I'm not as familiar with geography as I should be around here, so I'm not sure offhand how far away any of those places are, or if it's a feasible theory that she may have jumped in with someone she'd met and taken a trip on the fly--seems like a trip like that, unless outright abducted, would have been dependent on a closer proximity.
Also of course, that's assuming that she was NOT abducted, but I think most criminals are sloppy and not nearly as neatly organized as the movies, so it would be hard to abduct an adult and manage to transport them for a very long period or distance without notice. That's why I'm assuming that she was killed either in or near the area her body was.
Also, my point that I didn't mention in my over-long rambling is that I have not heard of this girl until just now, and I'm only a couple hours away--like I said, we do go to Appleton quite a bit. Our papers are notorious in this area for not passing on important info, and I wonder if maybe it's the same situation, so that just running this info heavily in the Chicago/Milwaukee/Green Bay/etc. areas may pop up leads VERY quickly.

I really wish that they would have been a little more descriptive in the area where they found this girl.
A rural part of FDL county really doesn't tell anyone anything.
Was it near the Rest Area on Hwy41, Along Hwy 151 perhaps? Anything like this would be helpful info potentially.
FDL County by its very nature is heavily rural so that tells us exactly nothing.
Chicago just for your reference is about 3.5 hours from Fond Du Lac
Gary Indiana about 4 hours.
Milwaukee would be just over an Hour.
Madison: About an Hour
But then there would also be the possibility they could have come from the SW part of Wisconsin Dubuque IA would be about 4.5 hours away along Hwy 151

Tomorrow marks the third anniversary, when hunters in Fond du Lac County, found the body of a young woman during gun-deer season. The chilling discovery, hasn't led to many clues about the woman they call "Jane Doe."
Investigators are trying a new tactic, they hope will produce some new leads.
For three long years, she's gone without an identity.
"The name we gave her is Jane Doe," said Detective Jerry Kane, of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.
Jane Doe, is described as being 15-21 years old, around five feet tall, wearing blue jeans and a black top. Detective Jerry Kane, and Lieutenant Cameron McGee have worked the case, since the beginning, when hunters made the discovery during the gun-deer season.
"We are treating it as a homicide, and that's the way it's being investigated at this time," said Lieutenant Cameron McGee, with the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office.
The Sheriff's Office has put out drawings, a mannequin, facebook, and more. And now, jailhouse playing cards, introduced Monday, will include Jane Doe's picture.
"I'm feeling good about it. You got guys in jail, and we all know that boys love to brag," said Kane.
So what was Jane Doe doing in these parts, and how did she end up out here? Investigators say she may not be from this area.
"Considering how many leads we followed up, obviously Milwaukee was a huge one, being a big city. Every lead I followed up on has come up with no results," said Kane.
But as the case grows old, these investigators say it is far from cold.
"It's very frustrating. We put a lot of effort into it. And somebody out there is missing a family member, and we would like to reunite that family member with their family," said McGee.
Closing this case, and giving Jane Doe, a name.

Fond du Lac County officials hoped the attention around the funeral they held last month for an unidentified crime victim would have yielded some helpful tips, but so far it hasn't.
About two dozen residents joined reporters and sheriff's and medical examiner's officials for the Dec. 7 funeral of "Jane Doe" in Waupun. Hunters found her in a frozen lake in November 2008.
Authorities say they've done all they could to determine who she was and who killed her.
Sheriff's Lt. Cameron McGee said they've received about 12 leads since the funeral but none panned out. He doesn't know what more to do, but the case will stay open until it's resolved.
Authorities say the girl is 15 to 21 years old, about 5-foot-1 and between 110 and 135 pounds.

A biography and photos for Fond du Lac County's only unidentified murder victim are on her donated gravestone.
All it takes is pointing a smart phone at the stamp-sized quick response (QR) code to view a memorylinks.com Web page containing information about the woman and contact information for Sheriff's Office detectives who are left scratching their heads as to who the woman is since she was left in a creek behind W4617 Skyline Drive in the town of Ashford.
If three hunters did not stumble upon her body at about 9 a.m. Nov. 23, 2008, her remains could still be covered in a fresh layer of snow.
A QR code is a new tool for families to utilize as a remembrance of lost loved ones, said Tom Schumacher of Rock of Ages Fond du Lac Memorial, 651 Fond du Lac Ave.
Spearheading the donation of a gravestone and getting Ron Steffes of Quality Monument Foundations on board was an easy decision for Schumacher since the "Jane Doe" investigation is eerily similar to a tragedy he dealt with as a boy.
In August 1958, Schumacher, who was 13 years old at the time, learned of the disappearance of his aunt, 17-year-old Ruth Schmidt of Oshkosh.
"We found out she was murdered," Schumacher recalled. "She was left in a ditch alongside a road near Omro. The eerie thing is that on the way home from school on the school bus, we would go by that ditch. It was near one of the stops for the school bus. Every day, we went past the spot she was lying."
The stark difference between the cases is that Ruth's killer eventually was located and sent to prison.
Jane Doe's body was found almost 50 years to the date that hunters found Ruth Schmidt's remains.
When newspaper articles and newscasts announced Sheriff Mick Fink's plans to bury "Jane Doe" at Cattaraugus Cemetery near Waupun after years of no solid leads, Schumacher knew he needed to give her an appropriate monument.
Detective Gerry Kane said Schumacher was the first of at least three people who wanted to donate a grave marker.
The gravestone is sitting in the lobby of the Fond du Lac County Sheriff's Office and will remain there until a foundation can be laid in spring.
Fink said he is appreciative of the donation but does not like a reminder of a murder in his lobby.
"It bothers me more that we do not know who she is," said Fink.
