Jeremiahs Aguilar, 21, was taken into custody after police responded to a 911 call from the child's mother about 4 p.m. Saturday and found the girl unresponsive. The toddler was taken to an area hospital and later flown to a trauma center, according to a Chandler police press release.

Aguilar lived with the mother and the 2-year-old at the time of the incident.

Authorities are investigating the mother's role in the alleged abuse, said Chandler police Sgt. Joe Favazzo.

CHANDLER, Ariz - A two-year-old Chandler girl is on life support after her mother's boyfriend told police he picked up the baby and threw her down on the concrete floor because she wouldn't stop crying.

Officers were called to the home near Chandler Boulevard and Fresno Street on Saturday when her mother, 20-year-old Josefa Talavara, told 911 operators her child was unresponsive.

When officers arrived they found the young girl unresponsive and paramedics quickly transported her to an area hospital where she was later air-lifted to a trauma center.

She is currently on life support with multiple skull fractures.

"The child's injuries include multiple skull fractures, bruising on her body and her face and burn marks on her legs," said Joe Favazzo of the Chandler Police Department.

Investigators arrested and booked 21-year-old Jeremiahs Aguilar on Felony Child Abuse. It was discovered that he is also in the country illegal.

This was just on the 9 o'clock news and I knew it'd make it on here soon. A neighbor went to the aid of the child and tried to start cpr but this douche pushed the lady away and hit the girl twice in the chest. I hope this baby girl pulls thru with no memory of this but it isn't sounding too promising. :angry:

Police said Josefa Talavera, 20, was present when her boyfriend, Jeramias Joel Aquilar, 21, threw the girl onto a concrete floor because she was crying Saturday.

Police said Talavera did not call 911 for at least two hours after the incident.

The child was admitted to the hospital Saturday, and both her mother and her mother's boyfriend initially told police that she fell down. Doctors later found cigarette burns and bruising on her arms, legs, neck, back and face.

Aguilar gave police a false name before eventually admitting that he carried the baby from the bathroom to the kitchen and became so angry with the girl for crying that he threw her on the concrete floor.

The girl landed on her head, according to his statement to police.

He had been living with his girlfriend and her daughter for four months and admitted hitting the child and her mother in the past, often when the baby cried. While at the hospital, several family members told officers that Aguilar had abused the girl's mother in the past.
