PORTLAND, Ore. - Oregon State Police arrested a 27-year-old woman accused of driving recklessly and kicking a state trooper in the face. The woman was in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of reckless driving, driving under the influence, attempting to elude an officer and assaulting an officer.

Lt. Gregg Hastings said a driver called dispatchers Thursday to report that a car going faster than 100 mph almost flipped after hitting a concrete median on Interstate 84. Trooper Jose Cortez spotted the car and obtained a speed reading of 90 mph. He activated his siren, but the car driven by the woman failed to yield for many miles before eventually stopping.

Hastings said the woman was combative following her arrest. While seated in the back of the patrol car, she allegedly kicked a second trooper in the face.

She really has some anger issues or is just one mean ass drunk and didnt like getting arrested.

Oregon State Police officers arrested a woman from Carson, Wash., near Wood Village on Thursday afternoon, May 28, after she allegedly fled from police on Interstate 84 and assaulted a trooper.

Jessica Ann Smiley, 27, was driving a Kia Sedona westbound on I-84 at approximately 5 p.m. when witnesses reported the car collided with the median near milepost 38 and nearly flipped. Responding to call of a car traveling in excess of 100 mph, State Trooper Jose Cortez spotted the car at milepost 22, measured a speed reading of 90 mph and attempted to stop it near milepost 19.

The female driver failed to yield and continued westbound at speeds between 60 and 70 mph. Cortez activated his siren, but the driver failed to stop and continued driving, at times recklessly, Cortez noted, until finally stopping near milepost 15 in the Wood Village area.

Upon contacting the driver, Cortez said he noted signs of impairment and subsequently arrested her. Smiley, he said, was very combative and allegedly kicked another trooper in the face while she was in the back of the patrol car. On the way to jail, Cortez alleged she continued kicking the patrol car doors and windows while another trooper followed to assist.

The officer cited Smiley for driving 90 mph in a 65 mph zone. She was jailed on accusations of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving, felony attempt to elude a police officer and assaulting a public safety officer.

A Multnomah County Sheriff’s deputy assisted during the stop.

That's what these drunk fuckers do, they kick. EMS workers have all learned the hard way, if the patient is drunk and is running their mouth, the first thing we do is put restraints on the legs. (Tightly) Cops should do the same. Necessary precautions.
