HAMPTON, Va. - Police charged a mother with leaving her two toddlers alone in her apartment Friday.
Around 11:50 a.m., Hampton Police received a complaint of two children in an apartment complex on Bridgeport Cove Drive. Once officers arrived on scene, they spoke with neighbors and the apartment management who had attempted to find the childrens' parent.
Officers, along with neighbors and apartment management, went door-to-door and were able to find the childrens' mother. Police said she was asleep in a friend's apartment.
Police charged the mother, 21-year-old Sasha St. George or Norfolk, with two counts of misdemeanor child neglect. The children, a 3-year-old boy and a 22-month-old girl, were not injured. They were released into the custody of a family member.
