HIGHLAND -- A Highland woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly tried to kidnap her children.
According to a police affidavit, Jessica Wolfe, 34, lost her children in a custody battle with the Division of Child and Family Services, and Wolfe was ordered not to have contact with the children. According to the report, a judge ordered Wolfe's father to pick up the children from their elementary school, but when the man arrived at the school, he saw Wolfe putting the children in a vehicle and driving away.
Wolfe's father allegedly tried to stop the woman from leaving by standing in front of the vehicle she was driving and telling her to stop. Wolfe, however, allegedly struck her father with the vehicle, pushing him three to five feet before stopping. The man then reportedly tried to get away by walking to the side of the vehicle, but Wolfe accelerated again and struck her father with the front of the vehicle.
"He then was able to grab onto the driver's door where the window was down," the arresting officer wrote in the affidavit. "He tried to hold on, and she drug him for approximately 50 feet."
After being dragged by the vehicle, police say Wolfe's father let go, rolling several times on the ground. Several witnesses at the scene also reportedly confirmed the events. Wolfe's father was treated at the scene for cuts and bruises. According to the report, officers later located the vehicle and took Wolfe into custody, booking her on charges of aggravated kidnapping because she did not have legal custody of the children and used a vehicle as a deadly weapon in trying to take the children, according to the affidavit. She was also booked on suspicion of aggravated assault and domestic violence in the presence of a child.
