PHOENIX — A Mesa teenager says he fatally shot his father last month because he wouldn't let him use the Internet, police reports show.

According to a Mesa police report released Wednesday, 15-year-old Hughstan Schlicker told a homicide detective that he considered committing suicide in front of his father after finding a 12-gauge shotgun and ammunition in the garage of their home, but decided to murder his father instead and then commit suicide.

Hughstan apparently surprised 49-year-old Ted Schlicker, who was standing in the kitchen when the boy approached him from behind, the police report said.

OMG..this is very sad and unfortunately what this world is coming to bcs kids don't know how to deal with their emotions without violence, but I must say my very first thought when I read that was "Damn. If my dad gave me some ridiculous name with an even more ridiculous spelling like that, I'd have shot him too!!"

I know that's a mean thing to think/ say but I figure I know I'm going to hell so I might as well enjoy the ride!

PHOENIX -- A teenage Mesa boy convicted in the February shooting death of his father has been sentenced to 20 years in prison.

Hughstan Schlicker had pleaded guilty on May 27 to second-degree murder in the death of his father, Theodore Schlicker, 49.

Schlicker said he was angry his father had taken the teen's computer away. Under state law, the teen was prosecuted as an adult.
