NEW ORLEANS -- Life support kept a baby breathing Tuesday morning after she was beaten, burned and drugged, according to police. By Tuesday afternoon, the child was still in critical condition at Children's Hospital.

EMTs rushed 6-week-old Diane Nelson to the hospital when police received a 911 call around 1:30 a.m. Monday from a babysitter who said the baby wasn’t breathing.

Bogalusa Police Department Sgt. Darrell Darden said the child had suffered blunt force trauma and head injuries consistent with being beaten by a fist. He said Nelson had also been burned repeatedly, and had been forced to swallow some kind of prescription medication similar to Xanax.

Police said up to five people might be charged in the case, including the mother. If Nelson dies, officers said they will file murder charges.

Christ. What 5 people, I wonder?

I sincerely hope its 4 people who didn't give a shit watching one hurt the baby, rather than 5 doing bad things. Poor little thing...

Investigators said the burn marks were similar to curling iron burns.
Plus given a xanax like drug! OMG why? 6 weeks old, come on! Fuck, why have a baby use birth control, give the baby up for adoption. I despise these worthless people I hope someone sticks a hot curling iron up their asses over and over again.

NEW ORLEANS -- Police arrested Lindsey Daigle, 19, mother of a tortured and slain baby Diana Daigle (aka Diana/Diane Nelson) Friday, charging her with cruelty to her other daughter.

Police say Daigle gave drugs to her 14-month-old daughter and indicate they were informed of the allegations during the continuing investigation of baby Diana's death. Drug tests confirmed her daughter had been given drugs, according to the Office of Community Services, which ordered the testing. Officers said Daigle admitted to giving her older daughter “controlled, dangerous substances.” The girl is in state custody.

Officers had been interviewing Amy Thomas, Daigle's babysitter, in connection with the abuse and death of Diana. Thomas was arrested in early March after Diana died from being beaten, burned, and fed prescription medication. After lingering in the hospital with no brain activity, Diana was removed from life support.

Detectives had the toddler's hair samples analyzed at a lab, and they came back positive for multiple drugs, although specific drugs were not named. When questioned, Daigle confessed to administering the drugs.

Police did not indicate whether she is a suspect in Diana's death.

It's hard to find the right words to describe how this story made me feel. Overall, I'm just so sad. To think what both of those children had to suffer through in their short lives is almost unbearable.

Why do we have to let people like this bitch live?? Why do we have to allow them to keep breathing every day? Not to mention clothe, shelter and feed them.

Looks like Lindsey deleted her many MySpace pages. Maybe someone better at MySpace sleuthing can figure out if she set up a new one (or multiple new ones).

[B]Guilty plea in ‘Baby Diana’ murder, Thomas sentenced to life in prison
A Bogalusa woman accused in the 2008 murder of a 6-week-old baby pleaded guilty to second degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison Tuesday morning, said Rick Wood, a spokesman for District Attorney Walter Reed.

Amy Leighanne Thomas was facing charges of first degree murder and a possible death sentence in a trial that was scheduled to start July 26.

She was accused in the March, 2008 death of 6-week-old Diana Nelson, who suffered burns on her arms, a fractured skull and was found to have a Xanax-like drug in her system.

Thomas was arrested March 6, 2008 and initially charged with 2nd degree cruelty to a juvenile, but that was upgraded to first degree murder when the infant died shortly after 2 p.m. March 6, 2008.

Thomas admitted to watching the baby, who was the daughter of Lindsey Daigle, on March 2, 2008. After returning Diana to her home, police said that at 1:30 a.m. on March 3, the baby’s godmother and sitter, Ashley Buras, noticed the infant was not breathing and called 9-1-1.

She was transported to then-Bogalusa Community Medical Center and later transported to Children’s Hospital in New Orleans. Wood said it was the diagnosis from Children’s Hospital that eventually led to the arrest of Thomas.

“Initially, (Thomas) was not truthful with police as to what happened,” Wood said.

Medical examiners concluded that the baby died of a blunt force trauma to the head.

Thomas confessed on March 4, 2008.

The first-degree murder charge applies because of the victim’s age, Wood said. When there is intent to kill and the victim is under 12 or over 65 years of age, the charge is murder in the first degree, according to Wood.

Wood said assistant district attorney Lewis Murray was scheduled to try the case, with assistance from Scott Garden from Covington.

Wow! Why on earth did she want to do such awful things to a 6 week old baby? WTF?!!
If you don't like the baby, don't babysit the baby.

The judge took the crime seriously too. This woman's life is over. Yeah!

Happy dance. . . http://i39.tinypic.com/2enpxxs.jpg

yeah i can't for the life of me understand why you would babysit any child if you can't handle it. You have a choice as a babysitter!! It wasn't even that she got frustrated and shook the baby. BURNS!! What kind of sick fuck burns a baby!!
