A 25th Street man was charged with endangering the welfare of a child during a drug arrest in his home Monday night, police said.
Police said John D. Chandler, 24, and D. Cordarryl Collins, 20, of Cheektowaga, were spotted smoking marijuana on 19th Street. Chandler, they said, ran off into his home and dove onto the sofa, landing on his 2-month-old baby.
Collins also was charged with fifthdegree possession of marijuana and fifth-degree criminal possession of crack cocaine, police said.
Chandler was also charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of marijuana.
Police said they removed him from the screaming child as the baby’s mother yelled, “My baby!My baby!” I can picture that in my head, it looks hilarious. The mother refused offers of an ambulance, police added.
