OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - A 19-year-old Oklahoma City woman has been arrested in the death of an 8-month-old girl. Master Sgt. Gary Knight says police were called to Children's Hospital on Thursday afternoon after Jamarrionna Cotton was taken there with a fractured skull and swelling of the brain.

Knight says police later took Sheree Brown from the child's home and arrested her for child abuse and child neglect. He says police were notified about noon Friday that the infant had died and the complaint against Brown will be upgraded to first-degree murder.

Knight says Brown was apparently a friend of the infant's mother and was living with the family.

The mother of a baby who died of a fractured skull said her friend who's accused in the case hasn't given her an explanation of how her daughter got hurt.

Jamarrionna Cotton died Friday of her injuries. Police arrested Sheree Brown, 19, in connection with the 8-month-old's death.

Jamarrionna's mother, Aubrianna Sandoval, said she was at work when Brown called to tell her that something was wrong with the baby. Sandoval said she came home from work in time to see the girl in the ambulance with her head swollen.

"I just get talking to her and she was trying to look at me, but her eyes went to the back of her head and she was trying to reach her arm out, but she couldn't. She couldn't bend her arm," Sandoval said.

She said she hasn't had a conversation with Brown since her baby's injury.

"She didn't tell me nothing," she said. "She kept saying she's sorry. I want to know why."

Sandoval said investigators told her that Brown admitted throwing the baby on the bed and floor. She said that because of the injuries, she believes there must be more to the story.

Sandoval has a 3-year-old daughter who has been taken into state custody by the Department of Human Services.Video too: http://www.koco.com/news/19481816/detail.html
