TAMPA -- A Tampa teen beat and tried to stab the mother of his child and her boyfriend in an early-morning attack that deputies say was an attempt at murder, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office.
Mario Avante Davis, 18, was charged with burglary of an occupied dwelling, battery and attempted felony murder after he kicked in the front door of a Windwood Oaks apartment at 14802 Florida Avenue about 1 a.m., an arrest report states. Once inside, Davis fought with Jasmine Harris, 18, and David Galloway, 21, who were watching TV, said Sheriff's spokeswoman Debbie Carter.
Davis then entered the kitchen and grabbed a knife, the report states. He slashed at Harris and Galloway in downward motions but mostly missed. Harris suffered a small scrape on her left forearm; Galloway, a small cut to his torso. Both refused medical treatment.
Davis, after a call by a responding deputy, returned to the home and surrendered about 3 a.m. He was taken to the Orient Road Jail, where he remains this morning.
Davis is a crew member at the McDonald's at Florida and Bearss avenues, a spokeswoman for franchise owner Caspers Company said. He has worked there since November of 2007.
