I'll try to keep listing Atari games to a minimum because they're generally neverending.

Pac Man

Donkey Kong

Asteroids

Missile Command

Blazing Lazers (turbo grafx) Never beat it.

Ghostbusters (nes) Who made this game? They deserve a kick squa in the nuts.

Robocop (nes) I'd like to punch this game in the face. I mean, look at this shit:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2yb8BtutbQw
Now imagine playing that without unlimited life & ammo.

Blaster Master (nes) Loved it though.

Ninja Spirit (turbo grafx) The part where you're constantly falling down a pit and had to avoid obstacles without having total control of the character is one of the most infuriating things I've ever experienced. Great game though.

Star Wars: Episode I The Phantom Menace (playstation) The only modern game I've given up on.

Ghosts and Goblins

Chessmaster 8000

Ninja Gaiden

Seahag, I laughed my ass off at your comments. Thank you for that!:D

Pac-Man would literally make a blister on my damn finger. (fucking game)

Donkey Kong...well shit fire, that game does nothing but cause complete testiness.:o

Any Racing Games...most the time I cannot keep my car or motorcycle on the damn roads, my 5 yr old gets pissed off at me, thinking I wreck all the time on purpose.

Lego Star Wars (one of my 5 yr olds favorite games...and another game, that Mommy just disappoints the hell out of him) "NO MOM, JUMP HERE!" and then crying ensues because of course I can't get my character to make a damn proper jump.

Really? That game was a piece of cake. Despite graphic problems, I don't remember it being too bad either. Then again, I was wrapped up in the hype so... who knows?

They came from a sincere place:)

You know, I kinda reached with that pick. My memory is a little vague on that one. All I remember is that my cousin and I were psyched to play it and after a few days we said screw it and stopped playing.

I replace that pick with Arkanoid.

Contra... good call.

Maybe it was just me, but Pole Position used to kick my ass something fierce.

Oh, and a big one: Dragon's Lair!!!!

I would, but the other Laserdisc games were 10 times more brutal. Space Ace,

as well as Cliffhanger,

and Cobra Command

I honestly saw no one finish those games.

How about that fucking paddle-ball Flash game we used to compete in?

Oh, and some of the old text-based games were brutal. Like Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy and Zork.

Fester's Quest... I used to be able to go through about two buildings and then that was it. I have no idea how it ends or what the point of the game was exactly.

Ghost Master, which is a crappy PC game that came out a few years back, is difficult beyond my wildest dreams. You have to scare people out of locations using supernatural powers and a team of ghosts. But, the damn people don't want to leave! It gets so infuriating.

Oh, and a big one: Dragon's Lair!!!!

I have actually finished that one! Took forever but I sure as hell got the princess back.

I've always loved a game you had to go to a gallery to play. It was called something like "Xivius." An airplane flies over landscape and you're looking directly down on it and have to avoid stuff and shoot stuff. It had hidden bonuses that you could only find by passing over them or watching more experienced players. I wish I could afford and had the room to buy one of the old arcade machines for this one.

Wry, it's Xevious (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xevious). You can still play it on one of those portable joystick\arcade things that plug into a tv set.

I can't believe nobody has mentioned Battletoads yet. That game was made to make full grown men weep leaving many a ruined Nintendo Power magazine ripped in frustration.

Even with the cheats on Game Genie it was hard as fuck. Contra was warm pie compared to it. I beat all of them without the cheats. Super C without dying a single time.

I've never even heard of the Silver Surfer game, but it sounds stupid-hard. And your Battletoads is a runner-up!

Negative... My brother & I had a little bit of a hard time on the hoverbike board (which was fun as hell) but other than that it wasn't anything that would make me seriously consider stomping on my NES.

Battletoads wasn't that bad.
Why aren't you in NASA landing rockets on asteroids moving through space at astronomical speeds!? Why aren't you catching cobras with your bare feet at the circus in Cambodia? Did you beat it? Even the "easy" levels were frustrating as hell to beat. I remember being happy to be able to beat it with the Game Genie that I wanted to punch myself in the face. Seriously. I don't remember the Silver Surfer game being hard because I think I just skipped trying and went straight to the infinite life cheat, but I do remember the Back to the Future game being tough and not making much sense as a movie related game, or period.

I think this kid can be pretty funny when he's ragging on some of the more frustrating games out there......

In two player mode with my bro. Asterisk?Without cheats...yeah....and is that really his name?

The angry nerd does bring up some good points and says some of the stuff I think everybody was thinking when playing that game; like how absurd that a kids game be so freaking hard, or about the programers being assholes for placing items in impossible to reach spots. His rant about Back to the Future is pretty good as well.

Here's a few more...

Ha, my parents would be real assholes if it was. Asterisk as in is beating it in two player mode considered legit.

But yeah, my brother and I beat it on two player mode without cheats.

How about that Sega CD game where you are protecting the slumber party? What the hell was the name of that game? Night Watch?

I remember paying for a Sega CD add-on, and coming home and popping my Genesis on top of it, and it was the ultimate in technological innovations. I had this brief glimpse of what the year 2000 was going to feel like. Everything would be shiny and complex.

So that was the first game I popped in and HOLY SHIT, real people. It was crazy. The game sucked, and I never could figure out what I was supposed to be doing, but when people came over I would break it out and say, "Look at how advanced THIS game is".

The other game I had for the Sega CD was some weird game where you were flying through a tunnel shooting shit. I could actually beat that game, but it was not fun. I don't even want to be reminded how much money I spent on Sega CD crap.

Night Trap?
That was a cult game, but more for it's censored footage than it's actual gameplay. I never owned a Sega CD(Mega CD in the UK).
But I played it and found it a fun idea but ultimately... repetitive. It was difficult keeping up with the monsters and switching cameras then setting off traps though.

I remember trying SO hard to complete Contra III: The Alien Wars on the SNES on hard and always failing and running out of continues by the 4th level. But that game was truly amazing.
Is there anyone here who had The 7th Guest on the PC? If so, did you ever finish it?

I think the other game you are referring to Swivel is the horrifically bad Sewer Shark.

Yes and yes! I am a total adventure game junkie. I really dug both of those actually. Played them right before I finally got my hands on Phantasmagoria and its sequel (though, those are kinda poopy and overrated...the second one at least).

I was hooking up the Nintendo for my dad, testing it before we put it on Ebay to make sure all the games and stuff work. One of them was Robocop, I'll be a son of a bitch... that game really is a total pain in the ass!
