CENTREVILLE, Ala. (AP) - Bibb County sheriff Keith Hannah says the county's schools superintendent has been assaulted at his home, and the husband of a school employee who had been demoted has been arrested.
Hannah says superintendent Don Elam was taken to DCH Regional Medical Center after he was attacked. The sheriff says Tony Fondren went to Elam's home on Wednesday because his wife, who had been principal at Brent Elementary School, was demoted to teacher.
He says someone called 911 from Elam's home, and Elam was taken to the hospital.
Hannah says Fondren turned himself in Wednesday night and was charged with second-degree assault and was released on $10,000 bail. The sheriff says he does not know the extent of Elam's injuries.
