The investigation began on May 4 when deputies received a tip that Tommy Lyle Carlton, 35, of Orlando, was looking to hire someone to kill his ex-wife.
Detectives conducted an investigation which resulted in an undercover deputy meeting with Carlton. Carlton told the undercover deputy that he wanted his ex-wife “taken out of the way.” Carlton indicated his ex-wife has custody of their only child.
Carlton and the undercover deputy agreed on a price for the murder and arranged a meeting location in order to exchange the money. Carlton met with the undercover deputy on several occasions to work out the details and obtain contact information for Carlton's ex-wife.
On Friday, the undercover deputy met with Carlton to tell him the murder had been completed. Based on the information detectives obtained a warrant for Carlton's arrest. Carlton was booked into the Osceola County Jail on no bond.
