Pit Bulls Rescued From Life in the Ring

Eight pit bulls in Harvey were rescued from a suspected life in the ring.

Sheriff's deputies there found six of the dogs tethered in a trashed-out backyard with no food and water in sight. Police said they believe the animals were being trained for fighting.

Two six-month-old puppies were found in cages filled with feces.

Animal Control is examining and evaluating the dogs.

The owner faces a variety of charges including animal cruelty.

I guess it's a slide show of the dogs on media site too cute. I'm so glad they were rescued.

There is no punishment in my opinion severe enough for the abuse of an animal.

And let's be honest. As the article said, the dogs are being evaluated, which could mean that they may be deemed too person- and/or dog-aggressive and be euthanized. A quicker and less-painful death than a death due to having your throat ripped out by another dog, but still a bummer.
