It's no secret that I loves me some Wii. I mean, how can you not?! Between the endless rabble of current games and an impressive roster of titles-to-come, there something here to satiate even the most rabid Nintendo fan (me). I won't even get into all that the Virtual Console has to offer, as well as making Miis fit for a king.

As far as current games goes, my favorites are:

LoZ: Twilight Princess (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/thelegendofzelda/index.html) - An epic adventure game that mixes elements of past Zelda games, new story lines, neat new toys for Link to play with, bad-ass bosses, and creepy situations. The use of the Wii controller scheme is Nice and the puzzles and side-quests will leave you begging for more. I have few gripes about this game, one of which being that Link looks like a hobo at the beginning, and the Zora suit is ghey. He looks like friggin' Liberace! Way to fag up one of the most influential gaming heroes ever, Nintendo! Still, I will stop just short of saying that this may be my favorite game of all time, but then again, I am a fangirl.

Wario Ware: Smooth Moves (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/wariowaresmoothmoves/index.html?q=wario%20ware&tag=result;title;0) - I hadn't given any thought to buying this game, but at the recommendation of more than a few people, I decided to give it a try. I'm glad I listened. This is the mini-game coup de grace at breakneck speed. It takes the controller aspect and uses it in ways you never thought of. For those who think the controller is just a gimmick just to sell units, *cough* Morbid *cough* you need only to pick up and play a game like this to know just how wrong you are.

And then there's Rayman: Ravings Rabbids, (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/rayman4/index.html?q=rayman&tag=result;title;1) another game that is big on the minigame market. I can't play this one very well, but it is a hilarious game all around.

The upcoming titles promise to be great too! Metroid Prime 3: Corruption (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/metroidprime3/index.html?q=metroid&tag=result;title;0) is the game I am most anticipating at this point, followed closely by Sadness (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/adventure/sadness/index.html?q=sadness&tag=result;title;0) which I hope shows me something special in the horror department, but if not, there's always Resident Evil 4 (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/residentevil4/index.html?tag=stats;title) and Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/residentevilseries/index.html?tag=stats;title)

Back to the land of mini-games, I'm stoked for Mario Party 8 (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/puzzle/marioparty8/index.html?q=mario%20party&tag=result;title;0) and Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games. (http://www.gamespot.com/wii/sports/mariosonicattheolympicgames/index.html)

What games are you looking forward to? What are your favorites? Or feel free to grouse about still not being able to find a Wii with which to play such crafty games. :p

Still holding off. There are almost enough games to justify spending the money to get one for me and my kid, but even then I am afraid it will be just like my Gamecube (a system I bought for the same reasons as may get a Wii; price and a few games), sitting on a shelf gathering dust.

A friend brought one over to my house when they first came out. I wasn't impressed at all. It seemed really hard to control and the graphics weren't anything to write home about. I'd rather buy a X-Box 360.

Todays VC line-up:
* Gradius III (SNES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points)
* Wonder Boy in Monster World (Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points)
* Battle Lode Runner (TurboGrafx 16, 1-5 players, 600 Wii Points)

Nothing too great there. Though, the original Gradius is still one of the games that gives me that urge to buy a Wii.

Personally, I never knew the fun had left. I agree they bring innovation to gaming, as well as some fun games.

I haven't touched my Wii in about a month. I guess Resident Evil will be the next game I play on it.

Same with my 360. But to be fair, I haven't played ANY games in a month.

Your not a sissy, i gots one too. KIllroy when I said that they put the fan back into games I meant, you get more into the game instead of the usual stationary controllers. Here your actually getting a major workout, and feel really sore later.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - those commercials where you see lots of people jumping around couches having shitloads of fun are really accurate. It just IS really that fun. And it's good for you. You're not all sprawled out being a vegetable. You're actually IN the action.

I gotta question. If I haven't played any of the first 3 Resident Evil games, am I going to be lost if I get RE4 for the Wii? I did play a wee bit of the first in the series (the GCube "remake") but I gave up on it because the controls SUCKED. How similar is 4 to the first one? Anyone played it on the Wii yet?

I play through the first one years and years ago... so I'm in a similar boat. RE4 is actually the only game I have for the Wii right now and I'm having a blast. Apparently, some of the characters are from past games (Which I have not played) but its not hurting it any for me. I'd recommend it.

from gamespot:

In case it isn't abundantly clear, you don't need to be a Resident Evil fan to appreciate Resident Evil 4. However, Resident Evil fans will recognize the game's well-groomed protagonist Leon S. Kennedy, a wisecracking government agent investigating an inconspicuous European village where the US president's missing daughter was supposedly sighted. Experiencing the events of the game without really knowing what else to expect is a big part of the fun, so suffice it to say the story is filled with surprises, and it further does a great job of continually ratcheting up the sense of danger and tense excitement you'll feel right from the get-go. The story unfolds through some beautifully rendered and choreographed cinematic cutscenes, as well as through occasional notes you'll find. Yet these aren't the game's strongest suit, nor are they the focus of it, since the dialogue is hammy and thankfully brief. The story's there to give fans of the series something new to ponder, though it mostly exists to create a context for all of Resident Evil 4's action sequences. Basically, it helps make the game suspenseful and entices you to keep playing just to see what happens next.
