From the discussion we were having in the other thread:

This thread reminds me, swivel -

I BOUGHT A PS3!!!! What made you get one? Blu-Ray, price-drop, or a particular game? The former two.

Actually, my husband bought it. He calls it "his" but the Wii has barely been touched since we'd had the PS3 for a couple of days because we've all been playing it. The only two games we have are R&C and Motor Storm. We'll be getting a Blockbuster membership so that we can try out others, but being as we're new to this, we're not sure what we should get.

We don't have it hooked up to the net yet, though I hope to have that done sometime in the next week. We don't have wireless internet in the house, so we're trying to figure out the best way to do it.

Any guidance you fine fellows can give?Do you have a router or are you just using a modem?Just a modem. Road Runner, if that helps.Add a wireless router. Unless you want to stream video from your PC to your PS3, in which case you should run a cable through the attic or crawl-space.I'll probably do a wired connection. Apparently someone my husband knows has a good deal of cable stored up and they are just going to run it through the house.

Anyhoo, I went to Blockbuster. I rented Burnout:Paradise and Lair. Lair got DISMAL reviews, but I rented it for the kid (even though it was rated T). Drake's Fortune is that good? What about the Orange Box? Thoughts?

I knew that the PS3 didn't have as many titles for kids as the Wii does, but I didn't quite realize just how slim the pickins were. Nearly everything the kid wanted I had to say no to. I figured that Lair was the lesser of all evils.

Best games for the kids are PSN games. Download "Calling All Cars". Wonderful family/party game. Get RockBand. That one game alone can keep you busy for months, with new songs each week. Drakes Fortune is the second-best game on all systems right now (Mass Effect is still #1 in my opinion).

The bowling game off PSN is fun. Little Big Planet will be out in a few months, and it is going to be a "killer app" for the console. And I loved, loved, loved the game "Folklore". Great game for kids with an active imagination.

Orange Box I would rather play on the PC. It was ported to the PS3, and isn't as good on the console, from what I hear.
