WAUKEGAN, Ill. -- An explosion has hit a shopping plaza in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan.

Firefighters from several departments responded to the scene. The building that housed a tuxedo rental store, a hair salon, a cell phone business and a travel agency was gutted and the roof has collapsed.

The explosion happened in Waukegan, which is about 40 miles north of Chicago.

Trib (http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/local/chi-waukegan-explosion-webfeb29,0,7829128.story) says its only a gas explosion, and here I'm halfway into my terrorist hunting costume. I knew they'd come here eventually

Damn...I live like 80 miles north(west) of Chicago....I haven't even heard about it.

I think it hit a mostly-black area. Check page 32 in the Tribune on Monday.

Wow, I wouldn't say Janesville out loud either ~ Wave as you go by next time, I'm in the hispanic corridor north of Elgin.
