John O'Connell, of Hayes Drive, was charged Thursday with sexual assault, criminal sexual contact and endangering the welfare of a child, according to Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli.
The arrest came after a joint investigation by the prosecutor's Sex Crimes and Child Abuse Squad and the Elmwood Park Police Department.
The girl told detectives O'Connell would pick her up from an arranged location and take her to different places in Bergen and Passaic counties, where they would engage in various sexual activities, Molinelli said. The incidents occurred between August 2008 and April 2009, authorities said.
Molinelli said the investigation was still ongoing and authorities were working to determine the exact locations of the sexual assaults and whether there were any other potential victims.
