According to authorities:
Barragan-Cruz went to the house Thursday to get his passport and demanded to be let in. Abikarram wouldn't open the door and slid the passport through the mail slot.
Barragan-Cruz pushed out the window of the front door, reached inside and unlocked the door.
Abikarram followed him upstairs and found him choking their son, who had been sleeping. He said he was going to kill the child and her.
Abikarram's mother, Vacilia Abikarram, 76, had been asleep in the room. She woke up and saw Barragan-Cruz choke her grandson and bite his neck.
The grandmother fought with Barragan-Cruz, who was carrying the boy, and Barragan-Cruz tried to push her down the stairs. He tossed the boy at her, and she took him downstairs.
Barragan-Cruz went downstairs, got a knife from a kitchen drawer and approached the boy and grandmother. Altagracia Abikarram stepped in front of Barragan-Cruz and was stabbed in her hip.
A neighbor had called 9-1-1 after seeing Barragan-Cruz break into the house. When police arrived, Barragan-Cruz met them at the front door. Barragan-Cruz turned around and put his hands behind his back, repeatedly saying, "Take me to jail," police said.
On Tuesday, Altagracia Abikarram had obtained a protection-from-abuse order against Barragan-Cruz, claiming he had choked her during an argument Monday.
It was second time since February that she got an order barring him from the house and from having contact with her, claiming he physically abused her.http://www.readingeagle.com/article.aspx?id=136389
