James Keith Larry, 60, is charged with two counts of aggravated stalking, a Class B felony, according to police.
Larry is accused of making harassing calls and threats to his 58-year-old sister, who lives in Florence.
Florence police detective Suzanna Taylor said the woman reported that her brother began harassing her in November as a family dispute developed.
"After being served, he called her, which is a direct violation of the court order, which makes this an aggravated stalking case," Taylor said.
Authorities arrested Larry about 4 p.m. Thursday, charging him with one count of aggravated stalking. Taylor said Larry was released from jail about two hours later after posting $5,000 bail.
"Beginning around 8 p.m. (Thursday night), he called the victim approximately 24 times," Taylor said.
She said the woman did not answer the calls, but Larry left several voice messages.
Police said each message was vulgar, adding some had underlying threats and Larry talked about having homicidal tendencies in some.
If convicted, Larry faces a prison sentence of 2-20 years for each count. He is being held in the Lauderdale County Detention Center without bail.
