FORT PIERCE — A 19-year-old woman who brought her small child with her last week as she shoplifted underwear from a Wal-Mart Supercenter is facing charges, according to a recently released arrest affidavit.
Kora Jade Luster, of the 700 block of Southeast Lomas Street in Port St. Lucie, faces misdemeanor charges of retail theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor in connection with the Thursday incident.
Luster, her 3-year-old son and a 15-year-old girl were at the store in the 5100 block of Okeechobee Road at the time.
A loss prevention worker told police he saw Luster and the teenaged girl select a pair of underwear, which the girl put in her pocket. The loss prevention worker tried to stop the theft by having an associate approach Luster and the girl.
After the associate left the area, however, the girl got another pair of underwear, the report stated. She gave them to Luster, who went in a fitting room and put them on, according to the report.
They were stopped after passing the last point of sale. They initially denied wrongdoing, but admitted to the theft after being shown video surveillance, according to the report. The 15-year-old girl also was arrested on a retail theft charge.
The $4.50 white underwear was recovered, according to a police report.
