Mom Drives over Child Who Falls from Car

A 1-year-old child died in west Dallas on Wednesday night after being run over by a car being driven by her mother.

Police said the child had somehow fallen out of the vehicle in an apartment complex parking lot in the 5800 block of Bernal Drive.

The girl later died at Children's Medical Center.

Police have not filed charges against the mother.

It was not clear how the child fell out of the car.



OKAY people, how do you let your child fall out of the car and NOT know it? And why wasn't said child in a carseat?

...yet. How can they NOT file charges against the mother? Obviously, the child was not in a car seat. If so, there is no way that child could have fallen out of the damn car. Unless, of course, the mother didn't close the door properly, didn't buckle the child's car seat into the car, AND drove pretty quickly while rounding a corner opposite the side of the car the child was sitting on, thereby having the child fall out of the car and somehow managing to end up under the tire. Hmmmm. Yeah, I'm thinking the child wasn't in a car seat to begin with.

I can't imagine not knowing, was it a jeep w/ no doors? I have child locks, plus the seat belt I would definitely know if they were gone!
