Tina Day pimps pre-teens

Seymour - A woman pleaded guilty this week after prosecutors say she helped a man pay to have sex with a pre-teen girl.

38-year-old Tina Day pleaded guilty to promoting prostitution. Police say Surgio Viveros paid Day $15 to have sex with the girl. Viveros, was convicted Tuesday of paying twice to have sex with the child.

Viveros is a neighbor of Day's at a Seymour apartment complex. He is now in the Jackson County Jail, not far from another man in the case, Jose Romero Mendez. Mendez, who is Day's boyfriend, didn't pay her to have sex with the girl, he just went ahead and molested her. He was convicted on two counts of child molest. The sex acts against the child happened over a two-month period over the summer.

The 38-year-old Seymour woman accused of selling a 12-year-old girl to men for sex in last summer received a 17-year prison term Thursday in Jackson Circuit Court.

"I want it clear that it is my intention that this child be given the best possible chance of surviving this despicable crime," Jackson Circuit Judge Bill Vance said just minutes before handing down the sentence to Tina S. Day.

"Miss Day, you took away (this girl's) childhood, Vance said.

I'm glad the judge decided on a LONG term to make sure the child is an adult when her sick mother is out of prison.
