CITY OF NEWBURGH — City police have arrested a Newburgh man in connection with the death of a baby girl.
Staff members at the Newburgh campus of St. Luke’s Hospital called police about 11:20 p.m. Thursday to report injuries to the 11-month-old. The girl had been suffering from breathing problems when she arrived earlier in the evening, and hospital personnel noticed several injuries that were now in the healing stages. The girl was transferred to Westchester Medical Center and underwent emergency surgery. She later died.
An autopsy on Friday showed she died of blunt force trauma to her liver.
City police, the Orange County Child Abuse Task Force, state police and the Orange County District Attorney’s Office combined on the subsequent investigation. They arrested Christian F. Lujan, 29, on a charge of second-degree manslaughter. He was held pending arraignment

An 11month old baby, with several ''prior injuries in the healing stages'', and she finally succumbs to blunt force trauma to her liver, at the hands of this worthless, POS, asshat, pond scum, murdering fuckwit.
This poor little sweetheart didnt have any kind of a life, and now she is dead.
I sincerely hope Christian Lujan gets the living shit kicked out of him, and dies in absolute, pure agony.

A Newburgh woman faced charges Tuesday that she assaulted her baby daughter six months before the little girl's death.
Desiree Miranda, 20, sobbed and gasped for air as a police officer led her into City Court. She followed 29-year-old Christian Lujan of Newburgh.
Lujan is charged with second-degree manslaughter, accused of recklessly causing the death of 11-month-old Anany Nitay Sanchez.
[...]
Miranda faces charges of second-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child in connection with injuries police suspect occurred in October 2008. She is not accused of killing the girl.
Miranda brought Anany on Thursday to the Newburgh campus of St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital. The baby was having trouble breathing, police said, and hospital staff noticed prior injuries and called police. Anany was transferred to Westchester Medical Center where she died despite surgery.
Anany's father, 20-year-old Armando Sanchez, learned the news from relatives. He went to prison on a drug conviction before Anany was born and isn't due out until November.
"He never held her," his brother, Wilfredo Sanchez, said. "He never kissed her. He never saw her."
Armando was hysterical when they told him, Wilfredo said. Lujan dated Miranda after his brother, Wilfredo said, and the two men had feuded in the past. Armando's family often baby-sat for Anany. They said they suspected something was wrong because the little girl screamed when any of her male relatives picked her up, but had no proof of abuse.
Lujan's siblings said they believed there had been an accident, something fell on Anany, like Lujan's fists?? and Lujan was innocent. They declined to comment further.
Police arrested Miranda on Monday. In court Tuesday, her attorney, Doug Jones, said Miranda had taken Anany to a doctor several times since then and each time, Anany went home with her mother.
City Judge Peter Kulkin contrasted Miranda's desperate sobbing Tuesday with her first court appearance Monday when she "didn't seem to have a care in the world." That was before she knew she would be incarcerated, he said. He set her bail at $50,000.http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20090429/NEWS/904290332

Armando was hysterical when they told him, Wilfredo said. Lujan dated Miranda after his brother, Wilfredo said, and the two men had feuded in the past.
Lujan hated the baby because he had 'feuded' with her bio-daddy, so he abused and killed her.
Armando was hysterical because someone with whom he had 'feuded' in the past was boinking his bitch and killed his offspring. (I could be wrong, but I highly doubt he gave her a second thought until he heard she had been killed by his rival)
And baby Anany died because her 'mother' was too desperate for penis, any penis, to give a damn about her welfare.
Fuck them all.
RIP little Anany x

This is a very said story, but I do not think that chris is the one to blame. The newspapers have stated that he has been charged with killing the baby, but she is charged with assulting the baby 6 months prior. Maybe he prior injuries are just a sign of what was to come. Back in oct when She is accused of hurting Anany she was not dating Chris and even recently she lived by herself with the baby while chris was living with his babys mom and their 2 children. The police searched his apartment, but why not hers. I think that he got himself involved with the wrong girl and now he is the 1 paying the price. He is such a caring person, he would go out of his way to help anyone who needed it and I can't believe that he would ever hurt a child regardless of what the situation might have been.

Well Laura, sometimes you just don't know people at all. who ever really knows what goes on behind closed doors? I am a clean freak at work if I eat out, I clean up after my child. However, my house could be tidier. Perception is everything my friend. She is just as much at fault to-she subjected and exposed her child to him-they both deserve what they get.
Moral to the story-look before you leap-never judge a book by it's cover...

I checked some facts and Laura is right about a few things. Miranda's current arrest wasn't about any recent charges they all come from a incident in October, 2008. When "Anany Nitay Sanchez" was about 5 months old. She got a assault charge and endangering for some kind of injuries on Anany.
Also the 03/2009 "spitting blood" sounds very suspisious to me since a child who died from blunt force trauma would do the same thing and I don't know any kind of cold that makes baby's spit blood. Looks like the both of them contributed injuries to poor little Anany, though it does look like Christian was the one who finished her off and killed her.

Police arrested Miranda Monday. In court Tuesday, she appeared on the verge of collapse. Her attorney, Doug Jones, said there was no proof she’d done anything wrong in October. He said she had taken Anany to a doctor several times since then. The most recent was in March when Anany was spitting blood and the doctor attributed it to a cold or infection, Jones said. Anany went home with her mother after each visit, Jones said.

Baby Anany Nitay was beaten to death. In her short life I'd like to think she was loved, sadly, I think the truth is Anany didn't really experience love at all. A beautiful life wasted. So sorry sweet Anany, you were the light of life, a soul to be treasured....rest in peace beautiful one.

An Orange County Court jury Tuesday convicted Christian Lujan of criminally negligent homicide, finding he caused the death of an 11-month-old girl in a Newburgh apartment earlier this year.
The jury deliberated most of the day Monday and part of Tuesday morning before voting to acquit Lujan of the more serious charge of second-degree manslaughter in the death of Anany Sanchez-Miranda.
The jury also cleared Lujan, 30, of misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree reckless endangerment. Judge Nicholas DeRosa ordered him returned to the Orange County Jail without bail to await sentencing on Nov. 25.
Lujan faces up to 1 1/3 to four years in state prison.
The girl's mother, Desiree Miranda, faces a separate trial later this fall, on felony charges of assault and reckless endangerment, connected with her treatment of her baby. She occasionally dated Lujan.http://www.recordonline.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20091020/NEWS/910209976

The man who caused Anany Sanchez-Miranda's death is facing, at most, 1 1/3 to four years in prison. The girl's mother, who's charged with assaulting her, could get up to 25 years.
Desiree Miranda, 21, of the City of Newburgh, was arrested April 27, after Newburgh city police investigated the April 20 death of her 11-month-old daughter. Christian Lujan, who occasionally dated Miranda, was convicted of criminally negligent homicide earlier this week.
An Orange County grand jury indicted Miranda last month, charging her with repeated physical abuse of her daughter between Feb. 1 and April 20. The girl's death was caused by blunt force trauma to her liver, according to an autopsy conducted by the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office.
[...]
Miranda's court-appointed lawyer, Doug Jones, said, "She never intentionally hurt the child in any way. She took her child to all scheduled doctor visits. She breast-fed her child. There's no indication, anywhere, that she ever intended to harm her child."
[...]
By contrast, Lujan was convicted of a charge that's not considered a violent felony and doesn't carry a mandatory prison sentence.
He'll be sentenced Nov. 25 by County Court Judge Nicholas DeRosa. A week after that, Miranda is due in court for pre-trial hearings.

This woman must be incredibly stupid if she thinks that abusing your child would not cause harm.
The state is incredibly stupid for letting the guy plead to something "non violent". How do you "non violently" get blunt force trauma to your liver??
